I don't personally have an armpit fetish, but I do know a gal with one. Went with a bunch of people to a Tom Petty concert, and afterwards as we were out in the parking lot at the amphitheatre getting ready to leave, I gave her a hug and she totally went crazy smelling my armpits, which was awkward for me because I was all sweaty as hell after a great rock concert and not really wanting to have my armpits smelled by anyone, but who am I to judge?
 
It's a strange thing... in the metro or on a tram in Prague there are guys who stink and guys who give me a raging boner. Don't know what that is or what it's about but damn.. A guy stands next to me hand above his head holding the rail and sometimes I need to move but others I want to shove my face into his pit. Animal urges, I guess.

Well, studies on women show that they almost always find the smell of men offensive, especially the men of close male relatives. However, when they are ovulating, they find the smell of men less offensive, and may even find a guy whose smell they like. The theory is that it's nature's way of drawing women to mate with men with an immune system different from their own, in order to give their children stronger immune systems.

I don't know if there's a similar explanation for why men (men in general or gay men in particular) may find the smell of some people attractive and others offensive.
