Bravo's Below Deck

Unpack that a little bit. What lens should it be viewed through and what apology should he have given?
OK.
- in order: women of color, women more broadly, straight men of color.
- an apology that women of color feel is appropriate and not one that tries to coyly skirt around the issue.

This is the last comment I'm going to make on this. If you have any more questions, send me a PM.

Agree I seriously doubt the response “I like black women and I’m kinky, what can I say” would not have moved the needle in the slightest.

I think a missed point is that Pete in the truest scene was never fired, but rather his story line and dialogue was largely, but not completely, edited out and he was removed from the opening credits after he posted the photo, however he did complete and was paid for the entire season. A relevant side note, Andy brought up the subject of Pete and the post at the reunion and the entire cast had a somewhat rehearsed and dismissive, "that's just Pete". That said, if it was "just Pete" and everyone from the crew, to the captain and the production team knew about it, editing him out and calling it a termination was more of a cover up than anything else on the part of the network, for if should have been released, (as many deckhands have been before him), and replaced early in the filming season.

Another piece of the puzzle and it may be crediting Pete with more intellect than he possesses, but posting the photo was actually a move in his favor, for it was clear after the first few episodes that he was going down as the piece of shit fall guy of the season and better to be absence than the total asshole for all the entire world to see.

As for the BD cast members, they're required to keep their social media clean and clear of controversy, for they never post their politics or their porn until they're confident they'll never be returning to the show. Point being, Pete knew there would be consequences to his post, and it worked as both a fuck you to the network while giving his OFs page unbelievable amounts of free publicity.

Oh well, la-di-da, la-di-da, la la

Didn't he post it after filming wrapped, though?

Everyone’s free to comment on this stuff and we could argue all day about wrong this and right that. I still believe he could’ve talked his way out of it if he wasn’t a dolt but what’s done is done. The picture he used was from a bondage kink site and there nothing morally wrong with that, it’s just wholly inappropriate to post if you’ve signed a contract with a media conglomerate. But common sense is almost as uncommon as good sense, so there you go.

See, that was easy. No DM’s necessary. Carry on.

It doesn’t play for me either but from what I remember it was just some shuffling under the sheets that looks like he was yanking it. And he proally was

It was unquestionably in the original edit that was what he was doing. He just returned from a date with Baker where he struck out and shipping out the next morning to work on another yacht, he knew he blew his only chance to get it and it would be a while before the opportunity presented itself again.
