No of course not and I appreciate you saying you don't want to "start out". For me it's amalgamation of things. I'm not really a massive fan of unsafe sex I find it also perplexing someone who caught HIV specifically in the way he did troublesome and wreckless I'm not going to say how but Google will say and he's kind of open about it. Which there is a VAST amount of gay men who are into that. To me it's like putting your hand on an open flame getting 3rd degree bruns... then proceeding to put it back into the fire. Obviously he's HIV positive anyway he's undetectable but agian secondary HIV is a thing although very rare and they we have growing numbers of antibiotic resistance STIs. So for me it's how he caught mainly but also the whole glamorisation of risky unsafe sex kind of troublesome.
