I dont think he is awful by any measure.

He just doesn't come across as very intelligent in some of the few videos out with him.

He has a really good eye for aesthetics, miss the photos of his tumblr days

He is not awful, and he is completely harmless. But he is empty headed and completely oblivious of social norms.

Example
When I got my haircut by him he farted and giggled. No apology or excuse me. He just farted. Then proceeded to tell me about why he thinks my black people have a hard time dating. (I’m black)

I guess the age of social media caters well for his type of guys. Surface is everything and gets greatly rewarded (by algorithms, first of all). Guess eventually these guys start to believe they are special and more than just attention whores. And as far as money and attention flows in the house of cards wont collapse.

Surface has always been admired and rewarded. But social media amplifies this and makes it easy to hunt for likes and attention. And some guys really get hooked and addicted...

I think he is an example of "main character syndrome". These people live in the digital world through their social media sites and other people exist as a supply of attention. Main characters tend to have rather oblivious attitude towards etiquette and decorum because real world social life comes with demands of respect, consideration and reciprocal model of interaction. And this is diametrically opposed to the principles of instant gratification, instant fame, instant achievement that rule in the virtual world.
