that's absolutely understandable, and that seems to be the explanation we've received in the chat room throughout the day... that the cost didn't make sense given the use or lack thereof of the room.Tbh, I understand them. There are always max 20...maybe 40ppl in that chat against thousands of ppl using the website. It must be very costy and it makes no sense. They may find a better solution and a good fusion of both old and new chat =)
however, what i think is most upsetting is how this has been handled. why wasn't a solution worked on before it got to this point, where they felt they had to just take the room down? why isn't the room being kept online during this period of solution-finding? why wasn't there any sort of notice that this would be happening?
the explanation of "we wanted to see what would happen and get feedback" is kind of offensive to me, tbh. we're not playthings to do experiments on (even though we do come here to play and experiment...). you could have asked us for our feedback without just removing the reason why many of us come to the site in the first place. sure, we're not a large number, but we're here nonetheless and now we feel like there's no reason to be. and then to say "it has worked"... well, yes, you definitely got to see what would happen and you got our feedback. it's just a pity it wasn't able to be done more constructively.
trying not to get too worked up over what is ultimately just an internet chat room, and definitely trying to keep this in perspective, but... it sucks when you've supported a space for almost an entire year, and then you show up one day and they've decided to take it down "to see what would happen." cool.
