From my point of view the new chat is far better.

I often watch cams and comment /chat using a laptop without camara (it is impossible to watch cams in the old chat without an active camera) when I want to go on cam I use my phone as camera, and laptop as screen and keyboard.

Also if watching cams on mobile it is not possible to fully mute the sound, even with phone set to mute.

I accept that the new chat is slow to load, but once loaded it is generally stable.

It will be very sad if the new chat is not reactivated while a final solution is worked on.

yeah i much prefered to have a group chat where you can see every one and it was a great sense of community to be honest im not sure how long im gonna want to carry on i may delete my profile now
if you go into the chat under everyone's names click on tab that shows 2 people and there are group chats in there...took me a bit to find it

NONE OF THIS WORKS THAT I CAN SEE
where is the ---click the square with arrow pointing to the upper-right to open the cam
click WHAT. to open the conversation. Click the link to open the Conversation,

Huh half the info is missing and some of it dont work the rest is not go apart from chatting

To view multiple cams:
Click the link to open the Conversation, then click the square with arrow pointing to the upper-right to open the cam in a pop-out window. After that, resize the pop-out window to make it larger, click the Cog > Change Layout > Tile & set the number of cameras to see.

It would be nice to know if while you guys work those ideas would be possible to get the New Chat back in the meantime? Or is it gone forever? I miss some people from the chat and I’d like to know if I should hang in here waiting for some miracle to happen before they/we all move on to other places…

The change was very abrupt and some of uf we are still “grieving”. We understand the “why” it happened but not the “how” as it was very sudden.
this. seconded. co-signed. agreed.

feedback has been, and continues to be, gathered. that mission has been accomplished. the poll results in this thread are pretty telling, and seem to indicate the general mood around here... people would prefer something better, but they're happy with (and actually want to use) the new chat in the meantime. we just wish we could use it.

Here's an idea that, if possible, might make the current/old chat more community based like the new/disabled chat was, in terms of a place where cammers can come and go as they like, and chats about them can happen alongside the cammers. If it's possible, it would likely be best on computers, not sure how it would work on mobile.

If there's a way to create a chat room called, for example, GENERAL CHAT CAM LINK, then, within that room, the staff posts a single cam link to be used by any and all cammers that wish. If additional chat in this room can be disabled, then the link would never scroll away from subsequent chat.

As a practice, this GENERAL CHAT CAM LINK room can be "popped out" into a separate window, then community chatting related to these cammers can take place in the GENERAL CHAT room that currently exists and is being used today.

I hope this makes sense.

I have one issue with the old (now only) chat: when I want to cam, it connects me automatically to the mic attached to my external cam, which is broken, and when I go to the settings to try and change it to the laptop mic, it automatically disconnects me from the chat. This happens always in private chat and often in group chat too. I wish there was a way to remember settings. Trying to change them in the browser doesn't work. I've tried Chrome and Edge.
It is easier to get a new webcam. Amazon has an EMEET webcam with microphone for $30.

I like the UI of the new chat more, but it's very buggy
100% echoing this, the new chat has a better UX / UI but it is buggy - Often cam's are not loading and I'm not able to switch from my internal laptop webcam to my external webcam when using some browsers.

I'm happy to hear that you will only stick to one chat, there's no reason to divide the crowds. I definitely think the job should be to just make the new one a little bit more stable, the UI is just fine.

I agree. Again! Suddenly I feel less ”urges” ;-) to log into lpsg which is sad. It used to be my favorite site.

Looks like I chose the right week to be away. Glad normality (with all it's quirks and foibles) has returned.

I've previously suggested getting a panel of chat users who can propose / discuss / review / advise etc on a way forward. There are clearly a number of opinions on what functionality a chat application should offer. There's a strong arguement that the way Flash Chat worked was the best / least worst (I'm talking about features not platform). Happy to be included in this if you go that way.

I also prefer the functionality of New Chat... when it works... which, for me, it isn't. Again.
