Aren't you mixing up correlation and causation? I definitely agree that there is no causal chain (going either way) between one's sexuality and one's preferred pronouns. But there is a significant correlation between having pronouns in bio and being non-straight in some way, statistically speaking (statistics can't tell you anything about any one particular person, of course). Straight cisgender people (90% of the population) have little reason to care about putting pronouns in their bios. That's mostly an LGBT[QIA2S+] thing, hence the correlation with sexuality (most of LGBT, i.e. all of LGB and some part of T, are non-straight).

I disagree. I work in higher education. Everyone here (straight/gay/other) has their preferred pronouns in their email signatures. You’re just making an assumption based on your own beliefs, not actual data.
