Since I'm an avid coffee drinker, especially Latte Macchiato, I figured I'd give myself an early 30th Birthday gift and get me one of those fancy hightech coffee machines.
But there are SO many on the market, that I just don't know which one to get.
Of course I was looking at a Jura first, but they are almost twice as expensive as any other brand.
So my next choice was a Delonghi. I just can not choose between the ESAM660, the ESAM6700 Primadonna and the ECAM Primadonna S De Luxe.
I've read the customer reviews on them on amazon and even though most customers write good stuff and rate them very good, some customers give them really bad ratings as well.
So my question is, does anyone here have any of those, or any other machine and what is your experience with yours? Which machine/brand would you recommend?
Feedback would be very appreciated!

I have a KEURIG. I know its not as fancy as those forementioned but it does the job great. We have a commercial one at my office too. Everyone loves it

I had a Delonghi and didn't like the quality of the machine. Sold it off. Plus I grew tired of the complexity and the cleaning yadayada.. I have gone back to grinding beans and using a simple coffee press or a little classic stove top espresso maker. I think they make the best espresso. If we want a foamy milk coffee, there's plenty of coffee houses around!

A woman I know bought a Nespresso and has given it up as well. The (non-flavoured) coffee was ok, but all the packaging and shipping and waste for a minuscule amount of ground stale, expensive, coffee is really not good. That's a big footprint way to make coffee.

Thanks, but we don't have Keurig here in Germany :frown1:

That's a shame because I think they make pretty good coffee for the cost of the machine. It seems that Keurig is the one that most of my friends have. It is the only electric machine I would buy.

I personally like coffee that is made in a press or drip pot - not a machine. It is not quite as convenient as a machine, but you might try pressing coffee to see how you like it...

Good luck finding the right device!

French press is not that complicated, IMO. Iuse regular canned coffee, and it comes out fine.

Otherwise, I just use a regular Mr. Coffee.

/French Press is still the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted.

One of the biggest issues I have in buying a small appliance is that so many that were made predominately of metal in the past are now plastic.
I have a Cuisinart coffee system (One side espresso/cappuccino the other side standard coffee maker) that is about seven years old and I'm really happy with it. When the time comes to replace it I plan on going to a store and looking at what is available and how it's made and what it is made of and basing my decision on those factors.
Truth be told I usually make turkish coffee on top of the stove with a copper ibrik.

I've tried them all. Go with a 15 dollar Mr. Coffee (with a timer if you like) for drip. Otherwise, go with a French Press or, if you're adventurous, Turkish Coffee method on the stove.

Don't waste your bucks on fanciness.

Ok, thanks everyone for your input so far.
Seems like it really sucks that we don't have Keurig here in Germany, since it is what most of you recommend.
Don't get me wrong, I do have a Senseo Latte Select and a regular cofee machine that "normally" brews coffee, but I wanted one of those bigger ones.
Two of my neighbours have one and they drink a lot of coffee. They both told me that their bodies tolerate the coffee from the bigger machines better than the regular brewed one and they can drink more coffee with it as well.
The thing I'd like about those machines is that it grinds the beans fresh and then brews the coffee. Plus they make really good milk foam.
Will have to think about Delonghi, nothing against Italy, but even their cars don't have the best quality (except for Ferrari maybe lol).
Maybe I'll have to go with Swiss quality by buying a Jura. But like I said, Jura is almost twice as expensive as other ones.
I was looking at a Bosch too, that would be a german brand.

At home I only make turkish coffee, just a good kettle and some fine coffee.
If I want espresso or anything I just go out and buy it.
Love, a great cup of coffee is always a good reason to go out. If you always have what you want at home, why would you leave the house;))))

hahaha, I think the shipping to Germany is outrageous, way more than the machine costs itself.
But thanks, my birthday isn't until July though

so order one online ....never ordered anything Internationally so I'm not sure how hard it would be ? Single Cup Coffee & Brewers - Keurig.com or send me the $$$$$$ and I'll have one shipped to U .....HAPPY Pre B-Day !!!!!!!
