Coffee machine suggestions?

True, but I live in a small village here in Bavaria, and we haven't got any places that sell coffee.
Only one that doesn't have fancy Latte Macchiatos and only old people go there to meet up and eat cake
I am afraid Turkish coffee might be a bit too strong for me. My blood pressure shoots through the roof when I drink strong coffee.

At home I only make turkish coffee, just a good kettle and some fine coffee.
If I want espresso or anything I just go out and buy it.
Love, a great cup of coffee is always a good reason to go out. If you always have what you want at home, why would you leave the house;))))

Had to add, I was looking around more and found a PhilipsSaeco that looks good. It is the Xelsis 8943/21.
Another thing that is important is that my tall Latte glasses fit under the machine.

Hm.....I`m a coffee addict. I can`t wake up without a huge cup of coffee. Actually, I can, but you don`t want to talk to me then, hahahah.
I find some brands of espresso a lot stronger than Turkish coffee.

Buy a Luka coffee machine. He makes a nice hot mug, but drinks most of it himself.

well i'm of no help to the OP. i'm with the french press crowd..i like the simplicity of the french press.....for me, coffee is like a ritual of sorts.......if i had an old hand style grinder it would be even better...and the taste is fantastic...throw in a good cigar and my day is complete...:biggrin1:

Finally, a thread about coffee, one of my fav things in the world. So, now while we're at it, would any of you recommend some great brands for instant coffee since now it's not feasible for me to have a coffee maker?

Ewwww... instant coffee is just so wrong in so many ways if you are a coffee drinker...:thinkerg: If you have hot water to make instant coffee why not just get a small Melita drip pot to make one or two cups or my personal favorites in case of a power outage
  • A French Coffee Press
  • Chemex
chemex coffee - Google Search

The methods you offer are nice but won't work well if a person has electric current for their stove instead of a gas range.

(or are you planning on doing this over an open fire pit?)

Instant has a purpose...a spoonful of instant can be just the thing to get started before getting out of bed.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, sorry to dissapoint you, but I wouldn't touch instant coffe or let alone drink it if it was the last thing in the world.
I heard that whole beans for machines are usually best from small roasting facilities. I found one named "Schreyögg" that I ordered beans from. They are located in Northern Italy. The beans aren't here yet, so I'll have to use the regular ones bought in a store for now. But I'll report back once they arrive.

You can always have instant on hand for those guests who tag along to family functions....you know the ones you don't like (I mean the guests not necessarily the event). Let them suffer.

A French press is about $10-$30 and they make very good brewed coffee. However, you need to grind your own beans ( which you should do anyway if you're a coffee snob) because store bought ground beans are ground too finely.

No, I mean, it would be cheap there in your country, but once it's imported to mine, the price doubles or triples. Which is why being a coffee fan I am, I rely on instant coffee to have my fix everyday. I've been dreaming to have a good high-quality coffee maker once I settle down after my studies.

The beans are the most important aspect of your morning (or anytime) coffee. The minute you grind beans they lose their magic. So always buy whole and grind them when you're ready to brew a pot.

That's pretty much what my new machine does. I fill in whole beans, the machine grinds the amount it needs for a coffee and immediately brews it.
I can't even begin to tell how good the coofee tastes now. I usually only had coffee in the afternoon before I had my new machine, but this Saturday and Sunday I got up and had 2 Cappuccinos, then after a big meal I had an Espresso and in the afternoon I had 2 huge Latte Macchiatos. :biggrin1:
