I have never done so; however, I would like to offer several points for you to consider:

1.) This is essentially a blind date - it could go well, badly or somewhere in between;
2.) Be very clear about YOUR boundaries, and, never deviate from them;
3.) Meet the other person in a public place, so you can leave, if you feel uneasy;

I'm not sure I really agree. I've never used Grindr because its not the kind of activity I'm looking for, but a personal ad allows some specificity and anonymity that hookup apps don't.
