Daniel Craig

Still thinking about the shower scene (NTTD). The start of his dick is in it and a bit of his tan lines. there are some great crotch shots too.

I swear to god, I need to watch this in iMax cause in digital format, it's cropped by 26% less picture.View attachment 45710541

That's not actually true of every single shot. Some shots are even cropped slightly on the sides for the IMAX version, and there are only three IMAX 1.43 aspect ratio full sequences in the film - the opening in Norway, the lengthy Matera Italy sequence that follows it, and the Cuba action sequence in the middle of the film. The rest is pretty much normal, with the exception of a few establishing shots also in the 1.43 IMAX ratio. I'm reading the "making of" book now and they go into all this. :)

Basically, they used the IMAX cameras for all action shots in those sequences, but they used 70mm cameras for any shots with dialogue in those sequences, like inside the car, because IMAX cameras are too noisy to record dialogue.

Then the rest of the movie was shot on normal 35mm film.

They said they were limited in how much IMAX footage they could shoot because they could only get 2 IMAX cameras, since Nolan was using 5 to shoot Tenet at the same time.

I saw it three times and was paying close attention. If you watch closely, it switches aspect ratio from shot to shot to shot during those portions, it's just very subtle. That shot does not go any lower on the IMAX version, it's framed exactly the same.

However, the first shot of Craig sailing in his boat, when it cuts to him in Jamaica five years later, is in the square IMAX ratio, and will look different on home video.

In the IMAX version, you saw him sitting in the sailboat, and saw his whole body down to about his knees.

It was abundantly clear he was not wearing underwear under his tight swim trunks.

I enjoyed that shot immensely. :)

Can you take a cap of that first shot of him in the sailboat? I'm actually curious to see how cropped it is for the 2.39 fixed-aspect-ratio version. :)

It's right after the break-in at the scientific lab that immediately follows the opening credits/song, when the movie cuts to Bond on his sailboat in Jamaica. :)

Was there any bulge shots that in iMax version aside from this?

Unfortunately, that's a very confusing and misleading slide, I dunno if it's made by IMAX or fan-made. I think it's fan-made.

In fairness, a truly accurate visual guide to IMAX would turn off a LOT of customers.

IMAX is in a bind when they sell their experience, because only a handful of theaters in the country are actually equipped to show movies in the full 1.43 aspect ratio, which is almost square.

I went to one, AMC Universal CityWalk, to see the movie all three times. It's one of the premier IMAX screens in the country.

About 10 years ago, IMAX whored their name out to AMC and allowed AMC to install IMAX projectors in almost all their multiplexes, using screens that are usually not 1.43:1, but only 1.9:1

here's an equally confusing but slightly more accurate chart for the movie Dunkirk:

Basically, only IMAX 70mm and certain special IMAX Laser locations can show 1.43:1, the rest get a cropped version.

However, only the action shots of the action sequences were actually filmed in 1.43:1

The dialogue shots in the action sequences were filmed with 70mm, which has an aspect ratio of 2.20:1, I believe. Those shots are cropped for the IMAX screenings

Then, the vast majority of the film was shot with conventional 35mm film at 2.39:1. It was projected that way even when I saw the film in full 1.43 IMAX

The entire film wasn't shot in IMAX, the way Nolan did with Dunkirk and Tenet. NTTD only had those three action sequences shot in 1.43 IMAX.

Even Nolan's films had all their dialogue shots done with 70mm, because the IMAX camera produces so much noise that you can't record dialogue while it's running.

Hope that helps. :)

The most obvious bulge shot in IMAX was the one I mentioned, the first shot of him in the sailboat, when it cuts to five years later, after the song, about 30 minutes in.

In the 1.43 IMAX version you could see not just a vague bulge, but the actual shape of his cock through his extremely tight swim trunks :)
