He started basic training in January. I don't remember when he graduated, but it would have been a month or two ago. Not sure why you put graduated in "quotes", it's not like the military would go easy on him or just pass him through. He would have been just like any other grunt.

God, you're reading waaaay too much into it...
I put it in quotes simply because I don't know enough about military lingo to know if finishing basic training is called "graduating" or called something else. And figured I was probably using the wrong term.
