For some reason I always new they were mismatched. They only got together bc of proximity and living in a non gay city. I could tell early on their personalities were so different. They never got to explore themselves and being a couple forced to couple think for lack of a better phrase. Being a in long term relationship during your pivotal years in your 20s does make you miss out in figuring out who you are.
