You guys got to realize that he’s supposed to be playing a socially awkward and anxiety ridden teenager. He’s supposed to act that way. I mean when I found out that that’s what he was doing I immediately understood why he acted the way he did. His character is awkward and you can’t get much more awkward than the way he acts now. So I feel like he’s doing a good job of portraying the socially awkward pacifist. I could understand if he was supposed to play the school whore or the bad boy and his acting sucked. But he’s acting the exact way he supposed to.

yeah, no, I get that. He’s still bad. But honestly they’re all pretty bad. Thomas Doherty can somewhat act, but he can barely contain his Scottish accent, for example.
I figured the gossip girl reboot wasn’t to be as good as the original. The only difference is the reboot has nudity which is a good thing.
Lol... I think the big/important difference is that the stories/cast aren't just straight/white and the actors actually look more their characters age. Plus, the main characters aren't someone who tries to rape girls every other episode, or someone who tries to destroy their best friends for wearing the same headband and they also don‘t glorify bullying and toxic relationships in every episode - all of that makes the reboot a lot better in my opinion. I actually wish this version had existed in my youth, then I would have felt more empowered and represented back then.
The unfortunate part is that they could've told these stories with better actors instead of focusing on modelesque "actors" who can't really pull off some of the emotions required for the show. There are a ton of talented performers who'd crush a role like this and as cute as Evan is, he didn't really need to be cast...

People really talk about his acting but Aki is the fan favorite and most lovable character out of them all. I’m sad he’s too good for all the characters. I hope they introduce a new one for him.
