I had the pleasure of knowing a few of these people and maintained friendships with a few of them up until their passings. . .

Leo Ford (Leonard Hilgeford) was killed when a drunk driver ran a stoplight at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and Hoover in Hollywood. He was riding a motorcycle at the time.

Al Parker (Drew Okun) at the time of his passing had been diagnosed as HIV sero-positive but he died of a ruptured brain aneurysm in San Francisco. He had been at the gym and began to feel very badly showing stroke symptoms. He was rushed to the Hospital and later died of the complications. He was a nice guy and was a person I knew personally. (I am 59 years old) and I think very highly of him to this day.

Ed Wiley/Myles Long (Dan Westling) Was at my home shortly before his death from complications of Hepatitis. He was in great spirits and shared a Thanksgiving dinner with us. He had finally found love and was moving to Chicago, Illinois to be with the man he loved. He had some things to do in Los Angeles before his permanent departure. When In Los Angeles his liver went to critical mass and he died in Los Angeles of liver failure. My memories of Dan will always be wonderful ones. He was talented in many ways, he was an articulate speaker and good conversation on numerous subjects. His kindness and good soul will always be remembered by both myself and my other half.

Steve York (Steve is alive and well and is or was still living in the Los Angeles area and was doing well last I knew)

Brian Hawkes Brian was the neighbor kid of a good friend of mine and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. Brian Hawkes contrary to many rumors is not really deceased. He found true love and tried to retire from a business that wanted him to remain in very badly. I will not reveal his real name for this reason. The little blonde "twinky boy" was a porn studio creation that he grew to despise. He absolutely grew to hate the business and the chances he was being asked to take. He simply got out. He finally had telephone calls forwarded to his Mother who informed people that he had died of complications of HIV. These days he looks nothing like the actor of so many years ago.

Rick Donovan to the best of my knowledge is still living and in San Diego California he is "happily retired" and wants to keep it that way.

Lee Ryder (Darras Parra) spent his final days in San Bernardino California and died in that area of complications from HIV relatively early in the progression of the epidemic.

Melchor Diaz used his real name and he did indeed become an casualty of HIV.

I had a mutual friend in the heyday of porn and the blonde with the monster dick known as "Lance" was one that I at one time saw on a semi regular basis. I have had no information on him and I wonder what happened in that case.

One of the first true superstars of the gay porn industry was Kip Noll, who mostly worked on William Higgins films. He was a beautiful, well-endowed young stud. Men of all walks of life view porn but then are so quick to judge them. (Those who don't watch porn are very much a minority.)

It's just sex they're doing after all (that's how you got conceived, right?). The rich exploiting the poor is much worse than what any porn star is doing (the harm they do is usually to themselves).

I understand that doing hardcore porn is a dangerous and dark way of life (especially when you stay it in a while), and I wouldn't recommend it as a profession in any way. But it's going to happen because non-porn stars demand it. Don't point the finger at this people BECAUSE YOU'RE WATCHING THEM for sexual entertainment. Don't be hypocritical like the GOP and Evangelical Christians (they're the joke of jokes). Porn stars have lives that suck in many ways (gay and straight). Don't forget that.

Help them emotionally in any way you can, if you happen to come into contact with one. Let them know they're not just skin. And if you can't be nice to them, then just shut your ugly mouth, even if some of the actors or actresses don't come across as nice.
