Hi everyone,

Just wanted to get your thoughts on my first tattoo. I got it at the beginning of winter so not many people have seen it yet. Many of you have beautiful tattoos yourselves so I thought that I'd share. There are a few details that I'm going to add but I love it.

You found a good artist :) Reminds me of Don't Blink a la Doctor Who, though I imagine that was probably not the intent.

I was thinking of the Weeping Angels. And Victorian mourning angel gravestones.

It's gorgeous. Who did it?

I got it done at Motor City Tattoos in a city called Oshawa. I was nervous about getting my first tatty so I asked all around. People from Toronto and outside all recommend the place. My friend hooked me up with a guy named Kevin who did the work.

I had never seen those before but thank you for the reference. After a quick google search this is beautiful. Although I wasn't thinking about death when getting this tatty.

Well, what ever you had in mind for your ink, I think it came out looking good :emoji_thumbsup:

Edited to add: I still love my one and only tattoo, but my sweetie's first tattoo is terrrrrrrrible. He's been working with a couple artists to try and figure out what he wants as a cover-up. To be fair, he got the tattoo when he was quite young.

What did your sweetheart get? And I'm in my late twenties. I have so many friends who regret their early tats as well. I always told myself that I should wait at least 6 months before getting a tat. Every time I decided against it until now. I feel for your partner though, its a serious commitment.

It's the logo for a particularly obnoxious band/music group. He knew them personally, mind you. He doesn't enjoy their music, though, and the tattoo itself is poorly done.

He has many more tattoos, his first is the only one he regrets. Some need some touch up work, though. We're both in our 30s. I got my tattoo done in my early 20s, but I spent multiple years considering it. I still love it as much today as the day it was done. Any ink I have done will be after a similarly lengthy process. No shade at those who are impulsive about tattoos, but for myself, they have to mean something and are to be mulled over for years.

No ink here for this exact reason. My reinforcing moment was when I was in college in the 90s, a friend got a fairly large tattoo on the side of his calf... of Sonic the Hedgehog. I looked at him and said "Do you realize that in 10 years, that's going to be Pac Man?" He just gave me one of those "who farted?' looks. He never considered the future.

I think ink should be something that would "always" be meaningful or beautiful to you. If you like it, that's all that matters.

It's beautiful... haunting even.

I always bottle out. I haven't found *my* design yet that I know won't get old to me

Me too! God that episode creeped me out. That's my benchmark for enjoyable scary. Nothing scarier than that is allowed to grace my eyeballs

What counts is what you think about it not what anyone else thinks

My latest tattoo I waited 2 years to get but generally I wait anything between 6 and 12 months or if my tattooist has a space I'll go have it done
