7x6andchg: You're heading from NY to the wilds of the Northwoods of Wisconsin - so about 1000-1200 miles...

Your white witches costumer would match perfectly the other cat...so we'd each have a familiar as we handed out the candy...LOL...it's kind of a funny picture I have going on in my mind here...poor kids scared half to death by two witches looking like the Wizard of Oz. (Good Witch/Bad Witch)

GreenEyes: Dang and here I wanted to be the one wearing black.

Oh I forgot to mention I am allergic to cats. ACHooooooooooooooooo! *sniffling* I suppose I shouldn't go then I wouldn't want to give the cats a complex as I avoid them from rubbing up against my leg.

*sniffling* Have fun on Halloween and keep us posted.

pst I have a friend in WI that was here about four weeks ago. Didn't you guys have that Harley thing or is that the wrong place I am thinking of?

7x6andchg: Right state, wrong part...Milwaukee is about 250 miles to my SE. I'm way up by Minnesota. We had quite a few of the riders go through here on their way to Milwaukee, though.

I have a sister that lives in NYC...I should find out what she's doing for Halloween - since it's on a weekend this year I believe...maybe she'll fly out and play the good witch.

Too bad about the cats - no good witch should be without his/her familiar. :D

Ironically enough, isn't Halloween, if my memory serves, descended from an old Celtic festival, that of Samhain?  You'd think Europe would have been the first place it spread to...

I don't really know much about Halloween, but that might very well be the case. The Celts never did well on mainland Europe though, so maybe that explains it.
Maybe TWK (or other UK members) can say something about to which extent Halloween is celebrated in the UK?

I'm gonna start a Halloween promotion party ;)

longtimelurker: Halloween is definately celebrated in the UK, although not to the extent that it is in the US. Family and childrens parties are fairly common as is trick-or-treating.

I think a problem is that another celebration, Guy Fawkes night is under a week afterwards. This celebrates the execution of a guy that tried to blow up parliament (I think in 1666, but maybe wrong). Got hung until barely alive, disembowled and castrated having his testicles and intestines burnt in front of him followed by being cut into 4 quarters whilst still alive - now THAT'S scary!

Anyway, we celebrate with big bonfire and fireworks events across the country with a puppet meant to be an effigy of Guy Fawkes burnt on top of the bonfire.

I might go to a party disguised as a skinny guy, if I can find any clothes big enough.

All Hallows Eve, woooooooooooo hooooooo hoooooooo hoooooooo, has always been a big event in the UK's Calander, and it's more and more becoming associated with grandure, so if something is to be sold, it will make it's way across Europe any time soon!
