HBO Series "Looking"

Indeed there are a lot of good looking men on the show but I've stopped watching after the last episode. It feels like it would have been interesting in the 80's; maybe I'm just an tired old fag but it's just trying too hard; everyone is soooooooo good looking; they are soooooooo serious all the time; they are all sooooooooooo moody and are all dreamy-eyed about the men around them. Feels totally disingenuous and like a big pandering fantasy.
*sigh* I have to agree.

I think the show just reflects what a banal and soul-less era we are in now.

Well, you won't have to worry about it any longer. I just read that HBO has cancelled the show. I actually thought it was a good show, and I'm sorry to see it go.

I just finished watching Queer as Folks on demand. I am not Bi; or Gay but I loved the show, the writing and the characters. I just finished viewing all seasons, I tried to watch a few episodes of looking on demand.

I just cannot get into it,the characters or the story line.

While I enjoyed Queer as Folk, I found the later seasons almost unbearable. Looking was way more honest in my opinion, but we all live different lives. I was never the club kid, so QaF depicted a lifestyle that wasn't close to my reality. Being too serious, moody, and dreamy-eyed about the men around them comes a lot closer to way too many of my friends. Interesting, Swellguy, that you didn't find QaF to be a big, pandering fantasy. The men on QaF were way better looking (I'm talking to you, Matt Battaglia).

I didn't think Looking was boring. They just tried to cram too much into 30 minute episodes, that the story never went anywhere.

I'm sorry it's gone, well except for the finale, but I won't miss it still 10 years on like I do QaF...

So I'm sure they are going to replace it with another longer and better drama about gay males, ha ha like thats going to happen. I'm going to miss Murray Bartlett most of all, he was hot.
