The Witcher producers and him didn’t get along because he was die hard loyal to the Witcher source material and he made it known that if they strayed too far, he’d walk.

Well, except for James Franco. But that article he wrote about Henry had a really weird vibe, full of resentment like they were exes after a bad breakup or something. (Weird because I don't think that Franco is into men, so I'm doubtful there was an actual behind-the-scenes fling to explain why he came off like a woman scorned...)

And tbh the Witcher is dumb. So he was probably upset that they had so much opportunity and source material to make it truly amazing, and that didn't meet his expectation.

For me, I am getting a traditional macho leading guy vibe from him, that from a view of a modern progressive-type writers or showrunners, especially if female, will appear as "toxic masculinity". He probably doesn't like his character, which is supposed to be the main focus of the story, based from the books and the games, is now sharing the story and screen time equally with the 2 female supporting characters. And that's probably why he was butting heads with the writers and showrunners, and left the show. While when he works with directors and actors, that are kinda like him (traditional macho type), like Zack Snyder, Guy Ritchie, and Tom Cruise, they all love working with him. Other than the Witcher and Superman, I think he needs another big hit, if not, then most likely his popularity will gonna wane soon. His next big 2 projects are the spy movie Argylle and a war movie from Guy Ritchie. It doesn't feel like they're gonna be big hits though.

But he seems to be on great terms with Anya Chalotra and Freya Allen even after leaving the show, so resenting them getting substantial screentime/story focus doesn't seem likely. (And aren't most of Freya's scenes with him, anyway?)

He can still argue with the writers and showrunners but be nice to his cast mates. I think he is more familiar with the video game version of the book, he is a gamer after all, and obviously in the video game, probably 80-90% of the time, the point of view is always on his character, and it's different in the series, where he is just 1/3 of the show. Anyway, just a theory though. One easiest reason also is that he is doing a lot of stuff and he thought he will still be playing Superman and want to focus most of his time on that, but that was canceled, and he is too proud to ask for the Witcher role back.

Netflix's The Witcher wasn't the right fit. That's all. The showrunners, producers, writers, and Cavill just weren't on the same page. Each had their own vision of what the show should be. Since Cavill wasn't the showrunner or on the writing team he should have just accepted that or just moved on. I know he's passionate about The Witcher, but at the end of the day. It's a job and his bosses had their own vision on how they wanted The Witcher presented on the small screen. So it was best to just part ways.

Liam Hemsworth is the right fit (just too tall). I'm sure he hasn't even played the game or read the book (he claims he has). But he will definitely not be as passionate as Cavill and so will go with the flow and not really question things. This may produce a much better show in the long run. I'm looking forward to what Liam brings.

Jai is such underrated when it comes to hotness/good-looks, and even acting wise. I think he is already at an age that he already missed his shot to become as big as Cavill or Pratt or Chris Hemsworth. Ah too bad. (Lol, he probably still way more richer than me).
