Photos & Videos Hook (aew)

I had high hopes for this match
They're dragging out this boring storyline and I'm sure in true AEW fashion they'll just drop it with no pay off. They could've used him so much better especially after all the hype and build up.

Yeah I couldn’t agree more. When I look back just two years ago AEW was on fire and so much so ppl were thinking they would buy wwe but now it’s nothing more than an indy show…after punk was drivin out I gave up on aew and it’s sad

I agree. I was a huge fan especially during the Covid episodes and daleys place. I loved the show. But then a perfect storm of negative happened with Cody, cm punk and jade leaving for wwe. I think the nail in the coffin was Vince leaving and hunter taking over.

Oh forsure almost all the ppl that left for aew had no choice but to go there cause of Vince being terrible

Thought the match was great, both showed out. I imagine the story has been stretched to be until Joe comes back which in all likelihood is this Wednesday

A while back this thread was complaining he hasn’t been on TV because he was on holiday and now it’s saying he’s on too much and you’re all bored - this storyline suits hook he is not a main eventer so this is the best y’all are gonna get

It's the same storyline they've used with him before. We get it he's out numbered but willing to get beat up. The pay off is typically the baby-face (Hook) taking out the entire squad or at least the "leader" but I'm sure they'll just move on as they did last time. He could've been TV champ, intercontinental champ, cruiserweight, etc. They hyped him up as unbeatable then squashed that at this point they're making him look foolish. Not saying he's above Mid card at this point but have him do something and not just feud with stables as a single person. His only help is a guy named after bread. It's boring.

None of those belts are in AEW. He’s the son of someone, who was taken out by a man obsessed with people who don’t have a father, and is now feuding with that guy. The story is fine, yeah the execution is not the greatest but I’m intrigued by it and it suits Hook perfectly. Also, who’s named after bread?

Ciabatta. It's the same storyline he did against Jericho. They could easily add any belt they'd like there's no laws against it. They're building up but tend to drop the ball and probably will just shift away from this feud randomly.

It does kind of speak to his level of progress when a bad haircut has this much impact. 😉

I agree with many of you though. Chopping off the hair made him less unique and special. Becoming less toned and beefy ... same thing. He's starting to look like everyone else.

I think the bigger elephant in the room is that after a few years, his gimmick's story has been told and we're in minute 14 of his 15 minutes. There isn't much meat on the bone. His appeal originally was "hey who's that silent hot guy in the corner?" When CM Punk did the "send Hook" line, the irony of it lit a flame on the internet. Then there was the anticipation of the first match. Then after being given a Goldberg-like unbeatable push, we wanted to see some vulnerability. Then we got that. I think we're just out of firsts with Hook. And there isn't really any depth to the character to hang on to... there's nothing to evolve. And just like every hot guy I dated, eventually his hotness cooled and you want something more.

Probably doesn't help that AEW's appeal overall is dwindling. Attendance is a constant topic of conversation. Ratings have tumbled.

All this said, like all of us, still totally would. 😆

I agree with you that’s exactly what the problem is. And as for AEW itself it’s not even close to being the same company that had us all excited in 2019-2022 when Cody then punk were driven back to WWE we all were like well shit what’s going on? The punk screw job is what made me tune out like how tf do you fumble the most important thing that ever happen to the company?
