It does kind of speak to his level of progress when a bad haircut has this much impact.
I agree with many of you though. Chopping off the hair made him less unique and special. Becoming less toned and beefy ... same thing. He's starting to look like everyone else.
I think the bigger elephant in the room is that after a few years, his gimmick's story has been told and we're in minute 14 of his 15 minutes. There isn't much meat on the bone. His appeal originally was "hey who's that silent hot guy in the corner?" When CM Punk did the "send Hook" line, the irony of it lit a flame on the internet. Then there was the anticipation of the first match. Then after being given a Goldberg-like unbeatable push, we wanted to see some vulnerability. Then we got that. I think we're just out of firsts with Hook. And there isn't really any depth to the character to hang on to... there's nothing to evolve. And just like every hot guy I dated, eventually his hotness cooled and you want something more.
Probably doesn't help that AEW's appeal overall is dwindling. Attendance is a constant topic of conversation. Ratings have tumbled.
All this said, like all of us, still totally would.
