A straight friend of mine met his partner through MySpace. He went out on a group social evening and met a lovely friend of a friend.

I have had very good success with this.
First, no pressure, you will need about 4-5 emails over a couple weeks, then ask for a face to face meeting. Each email must ask the girl unique questions based on her answers and her interests. Think outside the box, keep it very non-sexual.
Look good in your pictures, be cute, be educated, have good "stats". Her mind, well he is asking me out on Myspace, but he is a professional, tall, cute, nonthreatening, I will give it a shot.
