Irony Punctuation

Surely there's a modern way to use some of these punctuation ideas. We can use emoticons to indicate irony, sarcasm, and silliness, but what about the interrobang for rhetorical questions intended to indicate disbelief or excitement? I suppose the faux html or hashtag works for that, eh?

Exciting!

Fuzzy will miss the many fights over misconstrued sarcasm quips. </insincerity>

[I could have used the interrobang tonight. I just had a completely confusing conversation due to the use of a rhetorical question.

I feel like I want to use some of that in stories. I find it amusing that people have been trying to decipher it for that long though...I was thinking it was a more late 1990s and up thing. :\

Also, "scare" quotes. Haha.

... With sarcasm, sometimes you really have to let the reader know ahead of time that you are being facetious, just so they can get it. So I think a punctuation mark at the beginning may be necessary, like a ~ or a ^ ...

You could always use the Spanish technique for a common question, where they precede the sentence with an upside down question mark. In that case your bit of sarcasm would start out with: ¡¿

Sometimes, i see irony, but mostly it's just too subtle for me and when i try to use it, my dumass friends just don't get it. I know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and too often i stoop there...it's really just hurtful. Therefore and hence i claim the middle ground ... facetiousness.
