I don't know if it is offensive. However it is wrong to assume he has a large cock because he is black.

What is offensive is what individuals choose to be offended by. Nothing can be truly spoken of as objectively offensive. The extent to which generalities can be made about something being offensive, even by a particular group, is fairly limited.

What some people perceive as "positive" stereotypes, can still have a negative affect on the people being described. If you were of Asian descent, and all the time you met people who said "Oh you must be good at math." You'd probably get pretty annoyed about it. It boils down to people not wanting to be simplified and put into a box, they want to be recognized as unique and not judged on simplistic, facile, and often times false stereotyping.

Hmmm. . . We're used to late-night TV hosts asking people on the street to identify a picture of someone in government and drawing blank looks or off-the-wall responses. Like a few years ago, not recognizing Joe Biden, the Vice-President of the United States. The other night, Robert Mueller, former head of the FBI and currently the Special Counsel of the Russian interference investigation, drew his share of blank looks and non-recognition. I also knew a graduate student who didn't recognize that Millard Fillmore was a president of the United Staes. A graduate student! And it's not just ignorant Americans. I spoke with a Canadian girl a few months back who didn't know (1) that Queen Elizabeth II was her head of state and (2) who her Prime Minister was. She was two off. But she did know Obama was our president! (Well, actually, by that time, it was Trump.)
So it seems to me that the belief among young white guys that blacks have big dicks "has its root in European racism" or that they use it "to justify slavery and racial oppression" is ludicrous. Most of them got this from looking at porn, seeing a few BBCs in the showers, or schoolyard scuttlebutt, not from any study of European racism. And I doubt whether all of them are bigoted (though probably too many), or that they mean it "to justify slavery or racial oppression". There may have been some truth to this generations ago, but most guys today feel big cocks are praise-worthy, something to be envious of. That they ascribe that attribute to blacks is more a statement of admiration, if anything (albeit, grudgingly given through gritted teeth by some.)

That's like saying because no one remembers that modern American police forces have their roots in tracking down escaped black slaves and white indentured servants has no bearing on the fact modern police forces routinely victimize blacks and poor whites. This is not admiration. This is a fetish. You're not looking at this through the perspective of a black man because you are not a black man. Let's think of stereotypes associated with black men regardless of whatever country these black men come from. The stereotypes that quickly come to mind either have to do with criminality or sexuality. Does that sound positive to you? Does that really sound like admiration?
These are concepts that an adult should be able to understand how they are wrong. These fans are racist and black professional athletes are tired of white people's bullshit and are (finally) doing something about it.
