That's an excellent point. I'll give him that. :)

I do wonder why some people can't make their point without hurling an insult.

Actually, cane, you're very selective in your insistence on keeping posts positive. Some of the most insulting people on here are those you praise.

But more importantly, if you go back to your original post on this matter, you'll find that you were the one hurling insults. I only pointed it out. Nice deflection, though.

I don't understand why people think being prolific posters makes them feel important. Joining the group and one month later having almost 500 posts doesn't make you special. There are lots of other who have big mouths. It just puts you in the ranks of those who have lots of time and too much to say. This isn't a "rack up the posts" group, but there are several who seem to think that making the most posts give them god or goddess status and their little cult groupies all flock around them. One is now missing in action, I guess he got sucked up in the black hole of Google.

I would rather read a few worthwhile posts rather than a whole bunch of inane babbling. If I want to chat with someone, I can do it off list or via PM. That is what that function is for.

HA ha ha ha!
I was not bragging.
I was quoting another member who pointed out that I was a prolific poster.
How do you feel now?:)

I feel just fine, thank you. I was just pointing out that I'm not in the "cult of Zora" 5000+ poster group and I don't see why people need to feel that they need to just spout off everytime someone posts. It's as if people feel the need to answer every post just to rack up numbers to gain status around here. It doesn't do anything. Who cares how many posts you have or what kind of supposed IQ someone has, because most of the answers people post can be found online.

Alas, Monty, even if Rob set up a program to reset our counters to Zero after we reach, say 5000 posts, there are those who simply can't type more than three or four words at a time in one breath.

You're right about some conversations in a post being more appropriate for PM'ing but it's an unfortunate characteristic of the guilty that they don't know you're referring to them. ;)

That's what annoys me. It's the guilty parties who can't see the error of their ways, or as they would type "the error of there weighs," because most of the guilty can't spell, either! Some posts really do call for just a few words in reply, but most don't. If you're going to take the time to reply, think it out and make a legitimate post. Make a witty comeback or an intelligent response, not just a post for posting's sake.

Oh no, mister prepstudinsc!

Your angry tirade at me made no mention of Madame Zora what so ever.
Go back and read it for yourself.

You seem to be the ONLY member who is monitoring the number of posts.

There is no contest here.

The success of a web site depends on the participation of its members. I would certainly encourage (and I have) all members to take an active part in the LPSG Discussion Forums.

Everyone is bound to find some member particularly annoying. Apparently, you have placed me at the top of your list.

Perhaps you could avoid the posts of members who annoy you.

Or better yet, try starting a thread of your own. Something (other than an angry rant) might elicit a positive response.

I do notice that there are quite a few angry people who are LPSG members. I can't understand how you enjoy life at all.

I expect to be here for a very long time. I don't wish you any ill will.:)

Prep's right about one thing- I really do have too much time on my hands. It comes from working at home, getting to take my breaks at home, and having a severe case of insomnia- I sleep very little.

The part about ego and IQ is not MY issue. I don't brag about myself, I have very little to brag about. Perhaps a person who just doesn't hate themselves is seen as arrogant? In truth, I don't give a fuck. Some like me & some don't, pretty much like anywhere else in the world. Rest assured, I'm the last fucker on Earth who wants a "following".

in my highly unqualified opinion i don't think it should matter how many post you have accumulated - it's a discussion board. if you don't like what people say, just don't read what they write/post. actually, just last week a lurker (i'd never spoken to this guy) PMed me and told me, "i think you're asshole and everything you post is stupid - i'm ignoring you..." the gentleman rambled on about other things; but, in the end, he solved his own problem - HE ADDED ME TO HIS IGNORE LIST, if only everything in life were this simple.

really, it isn't like you're wasting precious space, money, time - whatever! prepstud, trust me, i do understand when you say, "who cares how many posts you have or what kind of supposed IQ someone has, because most of the answers people post can be found online." no one likes a 'know-it-all', especially pseudo-intellectuals, but when conversing in this forum of medium [the internet] simply placing said individuals on your IGNORE list is - well - simple. that’s the wonderful magic of the internet – not having to actually DEAL with people (although the same is true for your profession).

caneadea, you said, "i do notice that there are quite a few angry people who are LPSG members. i can't understand how you enjoy life at all." you'd come off as a lot less naive and inexperienced if you took everything with a grain of salt. honestly, it's pointless to try to analyze people's thoughts, sentiments, and over-all perception of the world through what they post on internet discussion boards. more often than not, the things people post are hardly a manifestation of their true beliefs, perceptions, etc. what’s more, does it really matter? as long as they aren’t invading your personal space, or in some way posing a threat to your REAL life you can file them away as being inconsequential. just sit back and enjoy the ride.
