i wouldn't classify walker as something that'd i'd ever see on the cw. simply because it doesn't seem like the show that'd attract the network's common demographic, at least based off what i remember from the original show when i'd randomly see an episode as a kid.and also jared is the least liked one, mostly due to his past controversies. so it's hard to tell if the show will do well.
jensen will be laughing on his way to the bank tho. he managed to leave a small, low budget network and got into a popular show on a streaming service.
i don't expect season 3 of the boys coming out before 2022 tho, because season 2 hasn't aired yet, and with covid, productions aren't at full steam

We shall see whether any of them are able to break out of niche programming. But that is where most good shit happens so perhaps they should stay there.

The showrunners have made some pretty big changes to the characters/"superheroes" of the current main cast, and the description from the press-release kinda make it seem like this one might (again) be their own spin on a (surviving) original Soldier Boy. The easily frightened and weak willed Soldier Boy is like the 3rd in line (it's a legacy title that gets passed down in the comics).

I don't know... we'll see.

I get the feeling they're just gonna make their own parody/twist of Captain America...which is kind of the schtick of the character anyway. Wouldn't be surprised if Eric pitched the role to Jensen himself due the Captain America association, actually lol.

Besides nudity, I wonder if they'll make him go through some sort of "superhero body training" or if they'll just put him in a fake-muscles suit like Homeland and call it a day?

if they use the suit with the short shorts and such, which is the first image result for soldier boy, in which he's pissing himself, jensen will definitely have to work out to keep up the body, or at least the legs and arms.
tbh i wouldn't be surprised if they tweaked the story. jensen is kripke's boy and he's not gonna make jensen do anything jensen doesn't want to. from what i've read, there's a scene where homelander rapes soldier boy. i doubt that'll happen. the stargirl rape scene was rewritten as a blowjob, so it'd still have the same impact, but unless it's a crucial part of the story, i doubt there'll be anything between homelander and soldier boy.
but i do hope jensen has to wear the slutty captain america suit. i wanna see him in that even if just once

According to Stan Edgar in The Boys Season 2, Soldier Boy was turned into the first Supe for the Allies during World War II, and he was "killing Germans by the dozen." These comments back up Eric Kripke's statement that Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy will be "the very first Superhero" who brings "humor, pathos, and danger." Like how Homelander and Queen Maeve are clear takes on Superman and Wonder Woman, Soldier Boy is a Boys take on Captain America.

The confirmation that Jensen Ackles will play the Soldier Boy who was created in the 1940s raises some big questions about his role in Season 3. Did the early Compound V grant him the ability to never age, allowing him to join the action in the present? Or will he appear in flashbacks? Or is there some twist that fans can't even imagine until the end of Season 2 or beginning of Season 3?

It is going to be a downfall for him for directors and producers to see him as anything other than Dean. I am sure when he was cast as Dean it was a slight risk, especially since he was coming from daytime, and daytime actors tend to be unfairly judged because of this. So, in retrospect, this is the reverse: he was not judged coming from daytime, but I am sure he will coming from a fifteen-year gig.

I think your point is valid, but Dean (and Sam for that matter) have gone through many changes over the years; they're both remarkably complex characters now. Also, Jensen has actually played multiple characters on the show (a demon version of Dean, a shapeshifter, Michael, Leviathan, etc).

Of course, that may not be what execs see, but hopefully working on The Boys will shift the focus.

It’s similar to how people react to Robert Downey Jr in other films. They don’t see Robert playing a character, they see Tony Stark playing a character. People don’t see Emma Watson playing a character, they see Hermione Granger playing a character and so on with actors that are too recognizable as one character in particular. I myself don’t mind if an actor was a very well known and loved character, I just care about how they portray the role they are given but somehow some people just can‘t see past some characters
