I personally find anyone who uses “straight”, “gay”, “bi”, “bi-curious”, “gay4pay” as the primary way that they promote themselves and as a constant gimmick to be tacky. We should know by now that dimensions, sexuality, fluidity are incredibly varied and that psychology, motivations and the overall spectrum is incredibly varied. We should also know what sex work is. But to use “straight” and “gay4pay” and supposedly being married to a chick as the main aspect of your online persona while having tons of on camera sex with dudes, there’s just something very dated and leech-like and insidious about that. It doesn’t really matter how true or not that gimmick and promotional tactic presentation is.
I understand that porn/sex work is fantasy. I understand that a lot of sex workers and porn performers build online personas. We still live in a world with a lot of “straight” superiority, hetero worship, queer insecurities, gay resentments, non homo privileges, internalized phobias. There’s still many people (even many out queers) who resent gay passions, affections, love and commitment. While dudes who claim that they’re “straight” or heterosexual or overall non homo-leaning make more money on their OnlyFans, can more easily get a variety of attention and have a broader following, can more easily indulge whatever sex work they want and have wider opportunities, will appeal more to rich old men and DL guys looking for hook-ups. So, it’s not surprising that a lot of dudes still lean into that stuff as a gimmick, promotional tool and ego booster. Doesn’t make it any less cringe-y, tacky and leech-like.
