Kidney infection...

I had a bladder infection travel to one of my kidneys... has anyone else experianced this? I went to the hospital and I had an IV in one arm as they were taking blood out of the other to test it. I know that drinking cranberry juice can help.. but are there any other natural remedies out there? I'm sick of cranberry juice. I had 13 bladder infections from may 2006 to may 2007.

Is that similar to a UTI-Urinary Tract Infection? I've heard that blueberry juice is good. I take acidophillus pills every day and cranberry extract pills.

Not to be a pain in the butt, but you have had too many bladder infections in too short a time period. Have they checked your thyroid? Have they done blood work for everything? Sounds like you could have a weakened immune system. Sounds like you never got rid of the initial infection. :redface:

Drink ltos of water and go pee when you need to and not put it off. I've heard people say to drink mineral waer instead of tap water. Don't know if that works are not.

You can buy cranberrypills. the cranberry cocktail they sell here in the US may have 110 per cent cranberry juice in it. Cranberry pills will work better.

Google kidney infection and see what sites come up and see what other suggestionis are given.

Buy cranberry juice but make sure it's pure cranberry juice, not the stuff laden with sugar as Freddie mentioned. Not easy to find here in the states. It's too tart to drink on its own but I cut it with seltzer water before I drink it.

The cranberry pills are ok but something about drinking the juice and filtering it through your kidneys makes it work faster. If you take the pills, take them with tons of water.

Sick of cranberries? - hot water with a squeeze of something citrus in it if you want flavour - or just hot water if you don't care about flavour. Drink it til it is coming out of your ears.

Sorry to hear you have that. With men, our tubing is built very differently so it's harder to catch one. It's also harder to get rid of one. I took three courses of anibiotics, and had a big bolus injected into each asscheek. I was more than a month getting over the damned thing. It's only the second one I've ever had.

I hope you get over yours quicker.

The inital infection goes away.. but I'm so prone to these things... I have to see a specialist. It is a UTI.

I used to take cranberry pills cause cranberry juice used make me want to puke. I'm ok with it now... but I really dislike the taste of it.

I once had a UT infection that was so painful I had to grit my teeth and clench my fists every time I needed to urinate. Pus sometimes came out my urethra until the antibiotics got it under control. I never want to go through that again.

UTI's for males are much worse.

It's most likely that they're from having sex too roughly, thats what gives me cystitis, I've had it too many times over the years to count but now I know the signs the day before and nip it in the bud by taking potassium citrate. It's no fun feeling like you're pissing razor blades/
