Yeah okay I’ve figured it out. He’s 100% straight. But since his new acclaimed fan base is a bunch of gay people he is not going to say he is straight cause it will ruin the image of nick nelson. Seems similar to Demi Lovato. She was straight af but then turned bisexual when the gay community became more popular now she’s riding the bi-they/them train since all of her fan base is gay. We all need to realize Nick Nelson is not real. Kit is a great actor who portrayed every gay man’s fantasy guy. He’s a straight 18 year old who probably doesn’t give a fuck about gay people he just saw a leading role and took it regardless of what it was about.

i dont usually like to comment on other peoples sexuality, but ive honestly never met a gay actor playing a gay role say "my sexuality is private," its always just the straight actors who get a huge fanbase bc they played a gay role who say shit like this (see jack falahee always responding that his sexuality 'didnt matter' whenever asked until eventually 'coming out' as straight) i dont wanna assume his sexuality but in the end the "staying silent about sexuality" is usually used as a pr move by straight celebs to keep people intrigued with them when they earn a huge gay fanbase
Yup. And people just assume him and Joe are an item. And if they are, good for them. If they aren’t, oh well zero effect on anybody’s life
Main relevant point being made for anyone with a brain is that no Director is going to publicly unilaterally OUT his or her TEEN lead actors on a global platform, especially when most of those actors have chosen to keep the subject of their sexuality PRIVATE!
That's the key point being made here for certain hard-of-thinking posters!
Think the same. Although nobodies sexuality should be a subject to anyone, when you’re in the spotlight, and specially with a LGBTQI+ show, people will get curious about it, specially if you’re playing the dream guy for almost every gay. And I don’t mean it because of the look, but because of the character and the whole fantasy surrounding it.
It just bothers me this idea that hiding your heterosexuality is a way to don’t let your popularity go down... LGBTQI+ people are not just a fan base.
C’mon, nobody dies because it’s straight or has problem coming out as a heterosexual… there’s no need to declare that you are “proud and sure about your sexuality”, and tweet about it when people are guessing: when you’re straight and do these things, it’s just shows how uncomfortable you are with the assumption that you’re gay. Like this could be a problem or offensive to you.

I personally think he’s straight. I just don’t understand why this whole mystery about it.

I think that comment was made in response to a torrent of speculations that he is straight, despite playing a role which deals with important queer experiences like coming out.
I would personally love it if the person who played Nick had queer experiences because their acting would reflect that authentically. Their statements in press junkets, interviews, would come from their actual lived experience. But at the end of the day, we are dealing with fictional characters, fictional relationships. None of these two young actors are absolutely similar to the characters they portray. Their job was to bring the comic characters to life, and they've done it wonderfully. I loved both Joe and Kit's acting.
i like the fact that sexuality as a spectrum just flies out of the window whenever we are discussing Kit. this shows that queer people really learned NOTHING from the Heartstopper series. just another heterosexist, heteronormative fanbase, eew.
i think it will but only to a certain degree that theres only that deeply passionate kissing and fast forward to theyre naked beside each other inside a blanket and looking at each other, smiling and caressing their faces or shoulders, etc.. OMG i can see what im imagining so vividly wahahah

1. LPSG is an extension of the queer community as you can see every commenter’s sexual orientation & gender identity, duh.
2. away from LPSG users, the queer community still propagate heteronormative ideals (offline & on other platforms).
3. the harmful rhetorics are undoubtedly coming from Heartstopper fans (except you wanna debate their legitimacy?).

Kit did call out the twitter fans so it's clearly not only happening here.
Only Kit knows whether or not he likes girls enough to identify as straight... something that Kit clearly isn't.
And FYI... nobody is 100% straight. Even those who claim to be.
