LPSG Topic of the Week.... Halloween!
Hi. I hope you are doing well. I want to bring the LPSG community together and create more happiness and pleasure for as many members as possible. We are going to try to put together various things to help do this. One of them is a Topic of the Week. A topic that all members can get involved with and share their opinions and thoughts :)

This week's topic is Halloween! I know Halloween is largely a North American thing but over the last 5 years (maybe thanks to social media) it is growing quickly in Europe as well.

How do you spend Halloween?
Do you look forward to or enjoy Halloween?
Any great Halloween Memories since you turned 18?
If you don't celebrate Halloween or it isn't big in your country. What do you think of those who do? Does it look crazy or fun?

Btw Halloween is something many people have done since they were young. If we can focus the conversation on Halloween since you've been an adult.

Personally, I absolutely love Halloween. I think it is right up there with Christmas and New Year Eve. Obviously I have very fond memories of trick or treating. I remember the first few Halloween parties I went to when I was 19 or 20 and they were great. So much fun. The stress of planning an outfit/costume and then the excitement of wearing it and if you nail it and get a good response it's just amazing. I love everything about Halloween.

How about you?

This year 2021, the holiday falls on a weekend. So, I will have candy on hand for the local kids. When the holiday falls during the work week, I get home wayy to late , as it is dark outside and the parents, have good sense not to let their kids walk up and down an un lit road filled with crazy people who love to race their cars speed

But as this is LPSG ; Happy Cocktober to one and all

As I get older, it seems to be more of a non-celebration. My kids are adults now, so there is no more going from door to door trick or treating. The numbers that trick or treat at our door have been dwindling over the years, as the demographics in our neighborhood have changed.
I can only remember one adult “party” that Mrs. Squirrel and I attended. I went as a priest and she went as a pregnant nun. Great fun, especially when we went through a drive through coffee joint on our way to the party.

Other than the obvious difference between popularity in the day between North America and the UK, one other difference that I have noticed is that is in the UK if you dress up for a Halloween party or for trick or treating that you dress in typically 'scary' costumes, whereas in North America it is more just fancy dress and you go as whatever you want. Has anyone else ever noticed this?

Always enjoyed a bit of fancy dress or a good mask for Halloween. Don't have many photos but over the years I've been anything from Maverick from Top Gun to Captain Jack Sparrow (pictured below)

Not sure why I was a doctor with a pink cowboy hat on. Must of been pissed. Think I was 21? 22? So hadn't howned my fancy dress skills at that point

Haven't had the opportunity for fancy dress in years now though. I miss it. Was a good laugh.

Halloween used to be my favorite holiday during my let's just say, younger days; but as both an adult and one with kids that are adults, it has really become just another day unlike in years past.

The only 18+ memories I can mention are the few times the wife and I dressed up during Halloween events at swing clubs. This was about the only times as an adult I wore a costume and one of the few times the wife choose outfits for the occasion that had an overt sexual vibe. I know it may sound strange that all the other times we'd go to parties with the express purpose of possible sex and she'd wear mostly ordinary or conservative clothes, but that's always been her modesty M.O.; not that it obviously ever stopped men from showing an interest in her ;).

Since our Lifestyle days are relatively behind us, we've had no reason to dress up or celebrate Halloween for the past few years. We don't even buy candy anymore since the past few years in our neighborhood have been a bust and I'm not about to get stuck again with several bags of unhealthy sugar-laden fat that neither of us will eat (unless they're Butterfingers or Candy Corn...don't judge me ). Also like many holidays, there have been times in the past when I had to work depending on the day Halloween fell on, making any talk of what to do on that day moot anyway. In fact, given it is on a Sunday this year, it's almost certain I'll be working the mines instead of at home.

So maybe because I don't celebrate it anymore I'm biased, but Halloween at least in America seems to have become a dying holiday for reasons I won't get into both because it would require a cultural/sociological discussion and likely violate the TOS.

But maybe in another year or two our desires and thinking will change and we will consider attending a sexual-themed Halloween event again as we both miss dressing up and even more importantly, taking the costumes off to fuck other people :D. Even finding a regular Halloween party might be fun as an excuse to dress up in non-sexy costumes, but they seem to be few and far between where we live and none of our family or vanilla friends really celebrate it either.

Maybe instead I'll just go back to hanging around cemeteries and sacrificing goats to resurrect the Pagan god :imp:. *

*Disclaimer: I have never really done this as that would require a belief in some form of organized religion.

I think the whole Halloween celebration is more of an American event
Here in the UK

Christmas and Easter are far way more popular

I think as I got older my love for Halloween waned a bit but I think the risk of losing Halloween to Covid last year made me get way into it again. I have tons of decorations up and the porch is covered in lights.

I like the supernatural side of it, and have been reading lots of "true" ghost stories. :emoji_ghost:

At this point in my life, I don't celebrate holidays other than Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos.

I do it in my own, ritualistic way. But it really matters. No one else gets it. But I don't care. It's my thing, and it's important.

Halloween is THE holiday.. up till to the first Halloween, it's all 'don't talk to them, don't take their candy'

Then one glorious day it's all 'talk to everyone, pound on their doors, take their candy.. dress up while doing so.. here, have some gunpowder'.. perfection
