Do you like to wear it? Anyone here actually never wear it?
If you are one of the ones that like to wear it. Do you dislike when people say you look better with no make up?
Do you dislike make up but you wear it anyways for whatever reason?

Does sticking sharp objects near your eyes still bother you? Like that eye liner stuff.

Ever had a funny make-up disaster?

What do you think about men that wear make up?
If you are not for men wearing make up, why?

I like to wear it when I feel like wearing it, which is very rare. I used to wear it every day then I realized how much I hated feeling like I wasn't 'ready' without it.. so I just stopped. I save a lot of time and money.

People haven't ever really told me I look better/worse without it. When I used to wear it daily sometimes I'd be running too late in the morning to put it on, and people I see regularly would ask if I was feeling OK because I looked really tired or like I was sick. Now that they're used to seeing me all natural on the regular I guess I don't look sick & tired to them anymore. If I do happen to paint my face for some random reason it's nothing but compliments.

I don't dislike make-up.. I just don't feel like it's something I need to be prepared to face society. Never had any memorable/funny make-up disasters.. none that come to mind anyway.

The person who taught me how to do my make-up is actually a man. He is indeed my brotha-from-anotha-motha.

I wear a lot of makeup. Concealer, base, contouring, highlighting,blusher,3-6 shades of eyeshadow, eye liner, fiber mascara, 2-4 shades of lip color (usually a liner, stain, and gloss), setting powder, and a finishing mist. Okay, that describes my makeup when I really do it up. I don't need much encouragement to go all out though, just enough time. I really love everything about makeup, from shopping for it, to washing it off. I pretty much won't leave the house without filling in my eyebrows (I don't grow any of my own) and a nice, shiny lip balm.

A man in makeup? Yeah, that's cool if we're just friends. I wouldn't find that attractive. It just isn't masculine to me. But there's totally room at the mirror for one more if a male friend wanted to get dolled up together. If he's MY man I'd rather he cultivate some soft, sweet-smelling, well coiffed facial hair. Facial hair is cool. It's also hot. That's just what I would prefer. Ultimately, I wouldn't interfere.

I hate when people say I'd look better without makeup. No one who has actually seen both states has ever said this. I have had people tell me I have beautiful skin, and then seem surprised when I describe how much product I'm wearing, but that was a looooooong time ago. My landlord had been used to seeing me as I appear when I roll out of bed and answer the door. He's come by and seen me dressed and ready to receive company or go out, and told me the difference is night and day. I do kind of go from frump to fab. Various endocrine ailments are wreaking havoc on my skin. Some nurse recently told me I was beautiful, and didn't need so much. She'd just complimented my eye shadow, and after thanking her, I told her how many colors it was because she seemed interested in technique. Then she told me I didn't need so much makeup. I was polite, but made a rant on social media...

"This is not a photo from today. It's from a day when I was feeling pretty down. Neither [name redacted] nor Grandma were home. [Name redacted] deployed, and Grandma was in hospital. The first thing I do on a day I know will be hard, is completely make my face up. Then I will decide what clothes to wear based upon weather, expected activities, but the colors are dictated by the makeup that made me feel cheerful. Everywhere I went that day I was complimented on my makeup. But you know what else? On that particular day (and on many others) I was also told repeatedly that I do not need so much makeup. How do I feel about that?

Excuse me? Go deal with your own face. You have no idea what my skin looks like underneath. You don't know me, you don't know what my life is like, and you don't know how much better I felt about myself, my upcoming challenges, nor the world around me and the people in it, yourself included after I chilled out in my bathroom, playing with my cosmetics and my appearance. If I was a man would you dare walk up to me just to tell me what I should or should not do about my facial hair? Were you raised by wolves and therefore should have your ill-mannered, unsolicited advice excused? If you aren't a friend or relative, your advice on how to present myself in casual situations is not even a spoke on a sprocket in a broken machine cast off by people long dead on a distal planet in a galaxy far, far away in my existential microcosm. Besides. I didn't come up to you and tell you how a little dark blush applied to your jaw would make your face look slimmer, or how some primer under some concealer, under some foundation would blur the dark circles and wrinkles under your eyes. I'm prettier and more stylish than you. So. Go deal with your face as you please, and I shall continue to do the same with mine."

This sums up my opinion.

Do you like to wear it? Sometimes. I generally like being able to wake up, shower, comb my hair, apply antiperspirant, dress, and be ready to go.

If you are one of the ones that like to wear it. Do you dislike when people say you look better with no make up? I've actually never encountered that. When I do wear make-up, it's pretty minimal. Eye liner, sometimes mascara, lip gloss and SOMETIMES lip stain or lipstick.

Do you dislike make up but you wear it anyways for whatever reason? I wear make-up a little bit more often than I used to, because my boyfriend likes it.

Does sticking sharp objects near your eyes still bother you? Like that eye liner stuff. Nope

Ever had a funny make-up disaster? Not really funny, but since I didn't really have anyone teach me how to apply make-up, I've bumped a mascara brush against my eyeball before, which wasn't very fun.

What do you think about men that wear make up? I used to be heavily into goth, so it was pretty common. Tastefully done make-up, no matter what is generally fine. I don't find men wearing make-up to typically be -appealing-, however.

If you are not for men wearing make up, why?

It depends on the day. Always when we're going out at night. If I'm going to be working on site chances are that I'll have a minimum, maybe just a foundation and lipstick for protection more than anything, and sometimes I top it off with eyeliner so I won't look too weird to the guys. I've gone without makeup a few times, and they look at me like they know something's different, but they can't quite put their finger on it.

Men in makeup? Yes, on stage. Offstage if it's subtle. Not my thing.

Makeup mishaps? Oh yeah! I always put on my makeup when I'm naked in the morning. Just easier for me because our bathroom gets so hot from the lights. He was in a mood. Walked in. I was leaning into the mirror. Nature took over. When it was over he laughed out loud. Apparently I kept trying to put on eyeliner when the festivities had already begun. There was a jagged line down my cheek! He wanted to take a picture. I told him if he did I would find a new place to store my curling iron - the big one, too.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the things in your eye thingy. It freaked me out at first, and I used to fuck up and poke myself in the eyeball with my eyeliner.. shit Hurts. Practice makes perfect. Now that I've got my technique down I can practically put it on without a mirror.

Now we are on a topic I know a lot about.

I wear it daily. Sometimes I do full glam, other times I do a basic 5-10 minute face. I've never been one to not wear makeup. I learned makeup skills when I was 12 and always had compliments. I would often do my friends and family's makeup for events. I still do that. I keep a variety of colors around for people of all shades and eye colors.

I rarely get complimented when I'm not wearing makeup. Although I do have a trick where I look like I'm not wearing makeup but I have enhanced myself. Sometimes it takes more time to look like I am wearing less makeup because the techniques are quite different. People will compliment me when I have minimal makeup on. But nothing like when I wear full face. It's almost everytime I go out that I get comments on my makeup (particularly my eyes) because I wear very vibrant colors.

I love makeup. I am the makeup maven. I went to school for makeup artistry and honestly I can say they didn't teach me anything I didn't already know (except for gore makeup effects).

I have very sensitive eyes and can't wear certain mascaras and liquid liner is too irritating chemically speaking. I do get nervous when I'm doing a cat eye just because it's damn near impossible to get them symmetrical. I also get nervous applying individual eyelashes because the glue is more like cement and a mistake can look ridiculous and unable to remove without a lot of pain involved.

Makeup disasters consist of rare things such as lipstick on the teeth, running eyeliner, an eyebrow getting wiped off on accident and foundation that hasn't been blended properly.

My normal makeup consists of: foundation, highlighting concealer, blush, eyeshadows, eyeliner, eyebrows, eyelashes, lip liner and lipstick.

My minimal makeup routine consists of: concealer, eyebrows, mascara and a light colored lip shade or lip gloss. Sometimes an upper eyelid liner to make the lash line look thicker.

I have to be running really late or very sick to not put on any makeup when I leave the house. I like to look my best. I'm like AE when it comes to putting on a full face when I know I have a busy day because it makes me feel like I can go anywhere and not look out of place. I probably over dress and over makeup myself for day to day events compared to most people. But I've never been told I wear too much makeup.

I rarely wear makeup and when I do it is normally just mascara and a very faint lip gloss, now and then I'll add a very subtle eye shadow but that is almost never. I was never taught to put on makeup so it is the biggest reason I don't wear it. I have to say, although I would probably look better with some foundation to even out my skin I feel like not wearing it might attribute some to me not having many wrinkles. I'm sure I'm wrong but I feel like letting my skin breath is a factor in that :) But if I looked like Tattooed Goddess with makeup on I might consider wearing it, lol.

I'm AlteredEgo, and I'm addicted to eye shadow and bronzer. I have 5 shades of bronzer and an unfathomable number of shadow pallettes. Hey, @Tattooed Goddess , I see you highlight with a concealer. That's interesting. I might try that when I run out of cream bronzer. I hate powdered bronzer, and only own any because I bought it when I didn't know better. Anyway. When you use concealer to highlight, do you apply it over, or under the foundation? Also, I used to use blush to contour, because my mother did it that way. Now, I use a darker foundation. What do you use? Lastly, I prefer dewy over matte. You?

I love makeup. I've been wearing it forever. I used to buy magazines and practice the different looks on myself and on my little sister. It was never forbidden in my household, so I was never one of those who wore gobs at school and washed it off before I went home.

I wear it daily for work, but I might not wear it on the weekend running errands, except for gloss. I like to give my skin a break. I never sleep in it either. No one has ever said I look better without it. Like AE, people think I look tired or sick.

If guys want to wear it, go for it. I know a couple of guys who use bronzers and eyeliner. No big deal.

Man in make up? Well, after eyeliner/kohl, I'm less than enthusiastic, but I avoid make up in general.
My trans daughter is rocking the look, however. And she has to go heavy as she hasn't started facial hair removal.

While I have to wear sunscreen, I don't need paint and spackle, and that's what it has always felt like on my skin. And just about every brand messes with my skin, or itches while it's on.

My full battle make up is a Burts Bees tinted lip balm, brown mascara and tinted sun screen/moisturizer.

Sooooo glamorous, I know.
I put all three on at the same time maybe twice a year.

Most days I only do my eyes. Primer, shadows, mascara, and eyeliner. Takes me under 5 minutes. I prefer a more fresh natural look for the rest of my face and simply use a non-greasy moisturizer to finish things off. I rarely wear lipstick except for special occasions so on a regular bases it's just clear lip balm.

You're going to laugh but I can't find concealer lighter than my skin tone (lord have I tried over the years to find it) so I went to the store that carries theatrical makeup and bought white cream in a little tub. When I am done with my makeup I dab a little under my eyes and upward on the orbital bone and pat pat pat until it's blended in. Then I put a line of it under my blush line on my cheek and blend downwards towards my jawbone. I don't use much, just enough to bring light to those areas.

I've never been a fan of using darker colors in contouring.

I'll be getting dolled up for a kinky Christmas party tonight. I have nothing else to do today except waiting until I can get ready. If I start now I my makeup will be running and my hair curls will be half straight by the time i get there. I'll just paint my nails for now.

How was the party?! I'm sure you looked stunning...

Nope. Got enough Scanda/Swegian that I'm blessed with red lips and color. Do believe in wearing broad brimmed hats, moisturizer, uv blocker.

Hair often in braid, braid sometimes curled under hat. Do enough outside work---I just can't exercise for the sake of exercise--that I got callouses, and I condition my hands also.

Guys tell me that I can have a gentle touch, but other times a calloused hand on their 'business' does jolt their attention......

Primer! I use two types - skin and eye. Best stuff ever.

interesting and good responses. I can see how one would take pride in applying make up since there is skill to it. Definitely out of my element reading the stuff. I don't know what half of it is. I know lickstip, eye liner/mascara ... blush............................. and uh lip gloss : D Oh and those eyelash guillotines :p

another question.

Would it be nice if a male knew how to apply make up? By this I mean like could apply it to you (the female) and make it look all frabulous n' what not. It crossed my mind as I was typing this up so I thought I'd ask because I imagine some days it might be tedious and it'd definitely go faster/be nice to have help. Dunno if that'd be appreciated or not, so why not ask lol.
