Mark E Miller

So i have noticed something, ytube is dead for millennial gay influencer in terms of sponsorships, most of the ytubers i follow, when they have a sponsored post nowadays is that horrible mental health company i will not name. That is only company sponsoring them now. I wonder how much that betterH… company is paying them ? Not much i think. We are in a recession. Times are tough.

Also, the hard truth is a brand built around one’s sexuality doesn’t sell like it did 10 years ago. Now you have to have a niche, something sports related, fitness, running, design, lifestyle, beauty, health, fashion, travel, cooking, etc to make money and get brand targeted sponsorship. Mark is so lazy. He has all the time to strategize or heck even hire a team to help him come up with some niche to create videos around or start a business. OF is an option too. Disapprove all you want. Also most brands put their money in younger influencers with younger audience. I assume Mark’s audience are around his age and older for the most part. He has the data. He can do a lot. He has potential. Shame he is too depressed to do anything.

I think it's been dead for milennial YouTubers in general tbh. I found a really good TikTok a couple of months ago that analyzed this, basically being an influencer or content creator in general is a dead-end job and most people's careers end up fizzling out, either by being cancelled or them just losing audience over time as new influencers and social media platforms emerge. This is evident for a lot of gay influencers but it's also happened to a lot of other content creators who were popular at the time, like GloZell (who recently talked about going broke) and an overwhelming majority of Vine stars.

The only influencers who stay successful are the ones who are able to pivot their fame to another industry, like Shawn Mendes and Troye Sivan going from social media stars to pop artists.

influencers don't last long. they're like trends. eventually people move on. plenty of influencers are smart enough to make a business during their peak and so they can just keep profiting while their channel is dead. mark however, wasn't one of those. and so he's suffering from what most og youtubers have suffered, irrelevancy

There is a gay man who's been getting a lot of views on youtube and making lots of money from his patreon just by having in depth conversations about queer topics. Mark could follow a similar path but he would have to be vulnerable and willing to have some hard conversations.

These surface level videos aren't cutting anymore because most his viewers are in their 30s, they want something more in depth and young gay boys who would be interested in watching a hot guy talk about nonsense already have their own young zoomer version of Mark so they wont be watching him either.

I dunno a 10ish years is a pretty good run
Totally. How many youtubers from 10 years ago are still out there doing the same thing? They all moved on to other platforms or semi-changed career paths if they're still doing online stuff. But I'd say his YouTube career started to pitter out 5 years ago and it's only been downhil. Can we even consider this a career for him at this point?

That's fair. Beyond the ones discussed, the only other YouTuber in his niche who I can really think of who still has a semblance of relevancy is Tyler Oakley. It looks like he branched out to many things but mainly shifted to Twitch. I looked up another one who had a famous relationship around the same time as Mark. She has 9 million subscribers on paper but nobody's watching her shit.

My immediate thought was the tyler oakly types. Watched a lot of them as a teen. (Side note, when tf did he become a hunk?)
