I noticed that after a brief hug and celebration with his coaches and with Matty, Tom stepped back and disappeared from all the footage of Matty hugging and celebrating with his teammates. I’m wondering if it was intentional, to step back and let Matty have his moment, considering how much the press overlooks him to talk about Tom. If so, kudos to Tom as that’s very sweet.
100%. Noticed this myself and there’s a bond there between them that is brilliant to see. For some reason he gets a bad rap Tom but think he has handled himself brilliantly today. 13 years in the limelight as the poster boy is a lot of pressure.
To be honest, all of his sinchro partners owe Tom Daley a lot. Without Tom, i don't think they would get any medal. Their individual dives weren't competitive enough for a medal. So Grace Reid, Daniel goodfellow, Matthew lee should be forever grateful to him. I'm watching diving for over a decade and i know very well their individual abilities. Most of them only compete in sinchro which tells a lot. High profile athletes (Tom, Jack) compete in both. How many medals have they won excluding sinchro medals with Tom Daley? That's right. And tom is huge name in diving, Even Matty's 4th dive didn't cost them in this subjectively judged sport even though It was 1 pt diff.
How about we appreciate people instead of bashing them? Both Tom & Matty were part of the medal. What you have said is disgusting. They are grateful for sure, but it's not like Tom has 99% of the medal.
Telling facts isn't an equivalent to "bashing people". Again, how many medals have they got on important competitions that isn't sinchro with Tom Daley? That's right. I feel like even i can be olympic champion as long as Tom Daley is my sinchro partner and i am even afraid of heights and couldn't do summersaults on land without breaking a bone. That tells a lot. If he was good, he could have win smth before partnering with Tom. Everyone knows who is strong and who is weaker link. In 3m sinchro same case, jack is pulling up all of his sinchro partners.
Last but not least, there is a reason why this is Tom's 4th Olympics and Matty's 1st Olympics even though they're just few years age diff. I mean i couldn't care less about them. Dustin always blocked me because i am the one who suggested his closest to switch Daniel to Matty because individually Matty had better results than Daniel and had better chemistry with tom. It turned out i was right the whole time. I just hope tom will retire once for all cause I'm not a fan for quite some time.

Then keep your opinions to yourself, or simply don't write anything here. If Matty would be bad, they wouldn't have the gold medal. It's called synchronisation for a reason. 2 people are doing something, not one.
I like the theory that watching diving for 10 years gives someone the skills to be able to win an olympic medal. Funny stuff.
Tom says he’s off to Yokohama for a few days to recover before his next event—didn’t realize athletes could leave the Village and come back. Wonder what he’ll get up to.
I think he wants peace, so he can prepare for the next competition.

Also, as mentioned above points are given based on the performance of BOTH divers. The points weren't given to Tom and Tom alone, if Matty was bad, the points would have reflected that.

ICYMI there is another paragraph after it referencing your main point. Also it wasn't one grammatical error, it was misspelled multiple times and was bothering me.
I'm happy to see Matty get a gold on his first Olympics. He's such a darling and an ally to the community so he truly deserves it.
I also think that Tom and Matty complement each other better which worked on their rounds. It was a tough fight especially you have the Chinese duo but luckily, they managed to have a high score on round 4. Plus round 6 is really my fave - it was like dancing before jumping.
This was a team effort, not an individual one. Kudos to both of them!

Anyways, I still want to suck Matty 3x a day and he can sit on my face while watching the rest of the Olympics.
