Minimal swimsuits

There seem to be a lot of briefer than speedo swimsuits (string side and/or partial or no back covering) for sale on line, but I almost never see a man wearing one in a public setting.
Has anyone else noticed this and wonder who is buying them and what they do with them after they buy them?

Straight beach that are more secluded.

Agreed. I also add any pool/sunning area that's designated for ages 18+. At pretty much all I've been to or seen over the years most guys are wearing something a bit tighter and skimpier than whatever is in style at the time.

I suspect the wives encourage it bec it allows them to feel daring without actually being so and the husbands go along with it bec they can use the excuse, "The missus wants me to and it increases my chances of getting laid tonight."

I've worn a thong at beaches in Fort Lauderdale, Miami South Beach, De Soto beach near Tampa, Venice Beach in California as well as beaches in California. But sometimes, I have little or no company. I'm told that 20 years ago, things were different, that male thongers were quite common at some beaches. It seems to me that there are a couple of reasons for the cvhange. One is that gays, who used to lead in fashion changes, have become more conservative. The other is that revealing men's swimwear of any kind — even the kind of tight boxer briefs worn by Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, even a modest Speedo bikini — is out of favor. Instead we have fucking awful board shorts on the beach. More of us need to be out there ready to show the world that we have cocks

I agree - but part of it also down to skin protect and avoiding UV rays.
Budgie smugglers were all the rage, even the good old mankini was a chuckle but now its disguise the fact you've got a cock brigade ruling the roost.
Quite right about the gay permanent revolution spearheading the way in so many things including fashion. Some of the things I wore as being new one year were all the rage the following year among the so called straight guys - and must say some really good asses on show in thongs back in the day - and not only well viewd by ghay gutys but cool chicks as well, so, bring back the bikini and the quarter back!

My wife and myself are going to Cancun in June. I want to wear something like this so bad. Maybe even a little skimpier. Nervous as to how she will accept etc.

board shorts at lest the ones i have leave nothing to the imagination (since they cling perfectly to it when first getting out of the water)

Speedos are common enough in Cancun that you can wear something briefer that the suit in the picture and not be out of place. I just returned from 2 weeks in Florida where the only swimsuits i wore were Speedo solars, which are slightly briefer than diving suits. Very few others in anything that brief, but I don't care. My wife was fine with it too.
