Moderators

The main duty of a moderator is to keep the board free of advertising. Generally, spam can be easily spotted. Often the title is in all caps, the user has never posted in the community before, and sometimes the user will post the message in several topics. They might include a website link or an email address.

The other duty of a moderator is to keep the discussion flowing.

I copied and pasted something that Pecker said in another forum. I think this sums it up the best.

Moderators and/or Administrators do the nuts and bolts work at keeping the site running smoothly. Our goal is to keep LPSG a fun place to be. We're often putting out fires between members or groups of members and we do a lot of technical stuff.

The Guide program is a work in progress. We plan to have several (eventually many) members with experience and skills, kind of mentor newbies and be available to answer questions about how to perform specific things like posting pics to the Gallery or showing multiple Quotes in a post, etc. They will also act as liasons between the membership and the Moderating Team when more authority is needed to help a member

Moderators get a free pass to the club level of any Ritz Carlton. They are also entitled to oral sex three times a day from any person within a seven mile radius. They have the droit de seigneur over any LPSG's members family, extended to third cousins, which includes most southern members spouses.

They also get two Canadians.

You forgot that we get double frequent flyer miles and always get the upgrade!

two Canadians?

i am so going to apply to be a new mod. i will also start a campaign of bullying, character assassination and veiled threats of violence against other applicants.

I can tell you from being a moderator on a diff site and a friend was a moderator on a wine lovers site that:
A) All discussion boards end up being the same in that:
B) There are flame wars like all get out even on baking sites
C) If you've been a member and become a moderator that some of your friends will become enemies when you make decisions they don't like.
D) It's a VERY thanless job
E) You will have wars in the backrooms that only the moderators have access to
F) You have to devote even more time to it than you thot you would
G) You will think it's a great idea to be a moderator/star on any given site and will shortly hate yourself for thinking so and wish you hadn't.
H) Luckily on this site moderators aren't assigned to a forum that's 'theirs' and you won't be goaded by fellow moderators in the backroom when you aren't starting enuff topics to get readers interested to respond.
I) You WILL spend ENDLESS hours answering insipid questions from people that are new and duller ones from people that are drunk.
J) See above
K) See above
L) DECIDE if it's something you really have the time for because it will take up ALOT of your time, even if yo're a moderator on a sewing bee site.
M) You'll need a drink before you answer the endless stupid questions people send you.
N) As mentioned above alot of your online and real friends will NOT like decisions you make esp if you have to ban them.
O) Oh I don't know..see all above and I don't need to use the rest of the alphabet!

I guess I've been very lucky, I have enjoyed my time as a moderator (a few mini dramas aside) but extra strength excedrin took care of it. Only one person hates me as far as I know!

One other thing I thot of was that most sites should bring mods in from other places. When you are trying to be really objective and moderate it's reeeeeeeeally hard when people you know are involved, and it can be stressful. I dont think any moderator on any site should be overly associated w/the members. It colors some of your decisions in other members eyes. I dunno just another 2 cents.

 How come I wasn't informed of this?!?!

I DEMAND ORAL SEX!

And when do I get my two Canadians? Can I hand-pick them? I already have one in mind...
