That is something I've kind of wondered about myself. I generally don't need to piss when I wake up...I usually don't until an hour or two after I've woken up.I'm under the impression that one of the main causes of morning wood is a full bladder, you get a hardon which prevents you from being woken up prematurely by the need to piss, or alternatively to stop you peeing yourself in your sleep. I suppose if you have a capacious bladder or simply tend not to drink many fluids in the hours before sleep I imagine you might not get such a full bladder and therefore might not have such raging morning wood.
I think its been found that all men get some degree of erection during sleep though even without a full bladder, I don't think not waking up with it means you're unhealthy unless you also have erection problems during your waking hours.
I must say I tend to wake up with a big ol woody most mornings but I generally need to go piss really badly as soon as I wake so doing anything fun with it would be pretty much out of the question until I've emptied my bladder.

No problems getting and maintaining an erection when I'm awake and I know I get erections while I'm asleep as there's the odd time that I wake up to a wet dream. Just thought it was odd that I've never really had the morning wood experience.
I had morning wood when I was younger, then it went away as I got older. I started L-Argenine a couple months ago, and now I sometimes wake up with a semi. It is kinda nice!
i dont always wake up to a woody. it all has to do with your REM sleep. if you wake up directly from REM you will have morning wood. if you have been out of REM for a few minutes or more, you may not still have a woody. nothing to do with being healthy.
