There is truth in what you are saying. The primary issue was being Roman Catholic, BUT Italians with traditional darker features were very much discriminated against. Italian Americans were mostly South Italians (Sicilians, Calabrians) who came from the poorest parts of Italy at the time. They had to work from the bottom to the top, like every other single non-english European immigrant group including the Germans, Irish, Polish. They were never segregated from other whites. Please list these rights other European-Americans had that Italians did not. I'll wait. They were always allowed in the military. They were always allowed high-end positions of authority. Governors, Mayors, Policemen. It is no secret that the English-Americans for a long time dominated all the industry fields, it is also no secret that a select few people in this group were xenophobic towards non-english people. Especially during the war where anti-german, russian and Italian sentiments were at a high. However this had nothing to do with their ethnicity, never once were these other Europeans considered not white, period. The only "non-white" Latins, are the dozens of mestizo Latino Americans claiming that they're full Spaniards and Italians like that Topher Dimaggio fucker LOL
