Nudity in college sports: a question

Guys who wrestle seem to have by far the least modesty. Between those singlets and weigh-in's and the close contact they have when wrestling they let it all hang out. I have a relative who went to state championships and the locker room was definitely a no modesty zone.

Same experience with wrestlers in my university locker room as well. My martial arts class ends at the same time as wrestling practice, so I get to see some pretty spectacular bodies in the shower. Wrestlers always opt for the Bradley shower poles over the stalls (the shower room at my university has both).

I went to secondary school in the early 00's. I don't remember any of my class mates taking a shower after PE.
In college it was 50/50 I'd say, and now that I'm in my mid-late twenties I'd say that the majority of guys my age are happy to be naked in front of each other in the changing rooms or showers after the gym or swimming etc.
An age thing or just times changing & people being more open?

I think it's both. Everything old is new again. I have seen the hyper modesty craze thankfully start to wane with younger guys. Also, as you get older, you become more confident and accepting of who you are and what you've got.

I went to college during this era and while I wasn't in sports, nudity amongst guys in dorm rooms and bathrooms was a part of everyday life. It was the first time other dudes saw my penis on a regular basis and was an important rite of passage into manhood

I wrestle in High School.
Those weigh-ins right before your match force you to be naked in front of all sorts of clothed people.
If I thought about it I would get to nervous.
I blanked my mind and said to myself it is all part of the sport.

I have a relative who wrestles and I visit fairly often. I saw a rule sheet for the upcoming year that weigh-ins must now be clothing optional and that wearing underwear or a jock was advised. This is supposedly due to phone cameras and some peeping incidents that happened someplace and it made the news.

With the recent scandal at Pen state, involving two coaches; and the wave of law suits that were filed. I would guess more higher education institutions are making clothing optional a choice. This rather than a student having to submit to rules, forced upon them by persons of possibly dubious natures.

And as the previous poster mentioned, the existence of phone cameras. A person who undresses with a certain expectation of privacy, can sue if his / her image is taken and made public, without their consent.

This is correct. I have seen the entire team (less any new arrivals) nude so much that I know all of them would find it odd to have to wear anything. I read the handout but didn't really think about Penn State. The only news story I found dated back to like 1997 and there were videos on porn sites showing a typical weigh in apparently from that era. I assume you are correct that Penn State may be the news issue they cited.

Not sure where you wrestled.....I wrestled in high school too

They never MADE you get naked for weigh ins.....people only got naked if they were close to the weight limit....in fact....we had a hole in the our team at 182....I weighed 170.....so when I filled that slot often I didn't take off warm ups even

Now big meets where it gets competitive....and your spitting in a cup trying to make weight....well then ya see a bit more nude weight ins

I was going to say, given the extremely light weight off modern technical fabrics, I cannot imagine there is ever a reason for nude weigh-ins. I'll bet a modern wrestling singlet weighs, at most, about 3 ounces.

For me, nudity was always natural from days of skinny-dipping with my friends. Showers with sports teams were required. Many guys were reticent, but coach said, "If I don't see you in the shower, I know you haven't sweat enough. So, the next workout will be harder and your chances of getting off the bench will decrease."

I played basketball in high school and the wrestling season was at the same time. We had a classroom in the boy's locker room area that we used for team meetings, health class, and learning sport rules. The weigh-in scales for wrestling were in front of the room. Someone had the brilliant idea to put 7th period study hall in that classroom. The wrestlers walked in naked even with the room full of girls and boys in study hall. Now that was braver than I've ever got. And none of the wrestlers ask for the scales to be relocated.

like completely naked? Haha why.. lol:joy:

The TOTALLY INCREDIBLE SHIT IS THIS TODAY:

I swim at a local pool.
A few weeks ago there were signs posted inside the guy's locker room that went like this;
"Adult Men must COVER UP went in the lockerrooms. Mothers have complained that they fear their boy children will be traumatized "

THE FREAKING MOMS DON'T TAKE THE KIDS INTO THE LADIES ROOM WHERE THERE ARE CURTAINS EVERYWHERE...IT'S EASIER TO LET THE KIDS GO BY THEMSELVES.

WTF? If I had a kid, he would never leave my sight or hand.
The moms are socializing together and don't want to take responsibility of their children.

UFB!!

Rant to end shortly! lol.

I wear Speedos when swimming.
They are tight* and go to a few inches above the knee.

*Tight is good, less hydrodynamic drag.
Baggies are like swimming in a parachute!

Real swimmers always wear something tight. I use mostly swim jammers now but back in the day my massive bulge was wedged into little speedos.
