This is not to offend but just curious

Are trannies just guys with implants? What other differences are there?

Trannies having sex with females are they lesbians or are they straight? Or...?

Does a "normal" transsexual want to be with a male or a female?

As i said I dont mean to offend but could you tell me the mindset of a transsexual?

Hya skip,

I am of the understanding from where I am that "trans" is short for transvestite, not transexual. A transvestite being a man/woman of any sexual preference liking dressing in the way a woman/man does. It's not a sexual thing it's a life thing. They don't want to BE women/men, they just like dressing as one. A transexual however is something totally different, where a baby is born with sex organs of a gender that doesn't tally with the way the brain is wired. So a little boy is born but without a penis etc, and grows up into the body of a woman, while all the time feeling like a man, or vice versa. As for the "mindset" lol well the simple if flippant answer to that would be a question, what is the mindset of a straight person? lol there is no answer to it, everyone is different and unique, it's the things we can share that make life special, while our differences make it rich. labels only help us in a limited fashion in a sorting manner, but labels lead to stereotypes, and as we all know, stereotypes again only work to a fashion and almost always end up as a tool for ridicule or discrimination in one way shape or form. :) imho.

submarine has hit it square, however, in my experience "trans" can refer to either a transvestite or a transsexual, mostly a transsexual. Except for the ones in porn, most transsexuals (and I assume transvestites) resent the terms trans and trans (used mostly in porn). They prefer the terms transgendered or sometimes t-girl.

As for sex, my experience is that there is a range of types of partners preferred, as with straight and gay populations. It's not an either/or situation. It depends on the individual. That said, most t-girls I have met prefer to be with men, especially straight men. They see themselves as "straight" in that they identify as a female who prefers straight men. On the other side, in my experience, most men who are attracted to t-girls identify as straight or slightly bisexual. Gay men are usually very accepting socially of t-girls but prefer other gay men as partners.Same with lesbians. Again, this is NOT true for everyone, and is only based on my subjective observations. I had a t-grill as my roommate for 1.5 years (who continues to be one of my best friends) and she supports my observations.

would love for one of our ladies to respond, but for myself and my experiences, i would say you are as spot on as one can by in this wonderful world of sexual diversity.

i've always heard trans used for transgender folk. transvestites are usually called cross dressers.

a trans could fall anywhere on the transition arch... just coming out and starting to ID as a transperson, someone beginning to live their life as a woman in private. living as a woman publicly. hormones, plastic surgery and up to genital reassignment. the flip side for transmen, going from female ID through to doing all the legal paperwork to finalize transition.

for transwomen. hormones are typical. feminization surgery - electrolysis, brow lift, eye job, cheek implants, ear pinning, voice lessons, shaving down the adam's apple.. is a long process to get to passing and living as a women for some transfolks. not all trans people go through with genital reassignment. MtF have higher rats of bottom surgery. i've always figured the off kilter rates has to do more with the success of bottom surgery for MtF.

who transfolk have sex with and how they ID.. depends. i've known transwomen who have gone lesbian relationship exclusive. i've known transmen in homosexual relationships with men. straight, gay, bi, trans exclusive. i guess every combination you could think up, someone is living that lifestyle.

In PC America, "trans" is taken largely as an insult in the serious transgender community because it is often an aggressive derogatory comment. In England and Europe the term is used much more lightly WITHIN the community (sort of a Python-esque "nudge-nudge-wink-wink"), but the context is important.
