Just NEVER, EVER, let Dick Van Dyke near a "English" character ever again is ALL I ask!

For recent years the better british accent was Gwyneth Paltrow's but then she has the "advantage" of that awful Chris Martin rubbing off on her...evidently!

Since we're talking about accents Bale as Bruce Wayne is the Best american accent by a non american on film I feel. but what region if any is it from or is it a non regional one. I also tend to speak a somewhat non regional accent, like a news caster.

That was one Batman movie that I would not get through. I don't want to see a karate movie.. I think I lasted 45 minutes.

I actually enjoyed all the other cheesey Batman movie. Including the one with Arnold as Mr. Freeze.

A lot of people thought Renee Zellweger had a good Brit accent in Bridget Jones’ Diary. What do the Brits here think?

I can’t remember the film, but I once saw Kenneth Branagh playing an American and I thought his accent was very good. There was something finally not quite convincing, some very slight inaccuracy, but no single word that wasn’t essentially right, I thought.

Of course, I knew he was a Brit and was, for that reason, examining his intonation closely. If I had known nothing about him, I might have taken him for an American. Not sure.

In general, though, I think American actors believe that their Brit counterparts are better with accents than they are … partly because the Brits hear American accents, given the ‘Americanization’ of the whole cultural sphere, far more than Americans do theirs, and partly because the actor’s art, in Britain, places more emphasis on technique.

At least some people say so.

(And let's be honest ... Brits are far more intelligent. They just are.)

Was it Dead Again? Don't he and Emsy-darling do their RADA American accents in that one... Not a bad little film for Ken and Em - tho generally speaking they make me hurl.

Renee Zellweger's accent in Bridget Jones was ok, the majority of it was quite passable but every now and then she'd get the odd word glaringly wrong, she'd be doing a generic English accent and then suddenly throw in a word that had an accent from another region.
