I recently re-watched My Own Private Idaho again, I hadn't seen it since I saw it when it originally came out (early in 1992 in my country). I greatly enjoyed it this time, the first time was somewhat diminished by the large amount of female teen fans of River in the audience who giggled excessively during the famous campfire scene. Also, the themes of longing and of loss resonate more strongly with me now. I didn't see every movie he was in, but I always wished him well. He was incredibly attractive and appealing. At the time I knew nothing about his politics or bizarre upbringing, or any of his music. I couldn't believe it when I read in the morning paper that he had died (pre-internet). It hit hard. I've been reading up on his biographies only now, and what struck me is there is strong indication that he at least dabbled in gay sex, but there's no very solid proofs (not that I doubt it at all). It wasn't so much his drug addiction that got him in the end, but trusting someone he should have had nothing to do with. I would have loved to have seen him in Interview with a Vampire, and as Rimbaud (another gay icon).

When you see Keanu looking at River in bed and other scenes,
Keanu has a genuine look of love in his eyes. Not acting.
I watched that movie several times & I honestly believe those two fooled around frequently making that movie and maybe beyond.
