I realize I'm just a straight guy, but when I think of Robert Conrad all I can mentally picture is this tiny actor who once ran against Gabe Kaplan in a TV special called The Battle of the Network Stars. Battle of the Network Stars - Conrad vs. Kaplan - YouTube

The race starts at the 7:53 mark with Robert Conrad assuming a taut and tense track sprinter's stance and former comedian Gabe Kaplan casually standing around as if he were on a stage at The Laugh Factory. At the gun they take-off with Conrad temporarily taking the lead. But quickly Kaplan, at 5' 11" and towering over Conrad, springs like a gazelle into the front and pours it on until he leaves the Wild Wild West star in his distant rear view mirror! For a man with Conrad's ego, this must have been a devastating loss.

When this program aired I was a child yet I still fondly remember the likes of Howard Cosell and all the female TV stars getting dunked in icy cold water wearing thin swimsuits with huge nipples popping out. Today's television can't compare.
