Signs: Single

What signs or conduct of a male prey does the women species look to identify if the male is single??

Ok. That was me just being silly. How do you tell or why do you suspect a guy to be single or not??

  • No wedding band
  • No tan line from recently removed wedding band
  • Well groomed & clean, but perhaps slightly dissheveled in appearance. This used to be how 100% straight guys were until they became metrosexuals. :irked:
  • Geeky and/or nerdy. This does not equal unattractive. But these guys are often too shy to talk to girls or too fixated on school, career, etc.

To my knowledge, whatever their situation (single or married), none lied.
The men I have been engaged to were both single, never married and my current boyfriend is single, never married, the only way I know is because that's what they said and it proved to be they were honest.

What is this honest man of which you speak?:confused: I have heard tell of this mysterious beast, but thought it merely legend.

First and foremost is to ask. After that you look for signs that he is NOT single. Such as...

  • Ring marks where a wedding band usually sits.
  • Paying for dinner/drinks etc with cash.
  • Doesn't talk about his home or personal life much if at all.
  • Refers to his supposed ex as his "wife" rather than "ex" or "ex-wife".
  • Doesn't go out of his way to impress you OR goes over the top to impress you.
  • Odd gaps or inconsistencies in his story.
  • Intuition.
I catch these signs 99% of the time but I'm not infallible. Twice has a guy slipped by all these signs save my intuition. Sometimes it will just be an odd look on his face when I ask a question or just a nagging sensation, but the two times it happened, I ignored my intuition. :frown1:

I bolded the ones that applied when it happend to me. :frown1: God willing I will not encounter that type of man again. Or if I do I will recognize the signs and RUN far and fast.

Definitely the telltale signs of a ring, but also his behavior. After a while I can usually tell when he's withholding something. I wasn't always so good at that because I have found myself dating married men, and that's something I would not do willingly.

After a couple of dates with Cap I suggested going back to his place. He hemmed and hawed and I knew then that he was married. Nope, his place was a dump and he hesitated bringing me there. Actually it wasn't that bad, but he wanted to put on a good impression the first time he brought me there.

Considering I'm also a single VIRGIN I want to comment.

I prefer to pay in cash. Because, a single man has more disposable income! For large expenses, yeah, that's fine. But I have money because I'm not spending it on other women.

  • Doesn't talk about his home or personal life much if at all.

"Oh, so I go home, and sleep, and erm...I hate dogs and cats and..erm... my home is where I sleep...and...stuff. Oh yeah, how about I stop talking about my home and start talking about my interests and hobbies than whether I hate my aunt Sarah?!"

"Hey, so you work in accountancy and earn ÂŁ30 000 a year. Do you know I have a great singing voice?" :biggrin1:

You could just ask? How many people like talking about how they were beat up and put into a coma for a few weeks after Christmas.

In other words, does he act too happy? Then he's NOT SINGLE! Single people come in two types. Metrosexuals and deadbeats. That is all. If he acts charming, treats you like a lady and says he 'hates the game' then the alarm should be ringing!

So are there any signs beside this ring that say he is available? I know I have things I look at with a girl.

Like their cool and how frustrated they might get
The amount they talk about their life
How often they talk about guys
Any long eye contact
Sleeping in the middle of the day
How many friends they have around them

Maybe it is because I'm young, but these all seem to be only good for older guys. Also, things like paying for dinner with cash? I find it odd that you are on a date if you still suspect him of not being single.

In most cases I am asked, and they are surprised or act surprised. It's kind of annoying, but not because they asked me if I have a girlfriend, it is the almost guaranteed follow up question of "Why?" It always feels like they are trying to examine me as if I have some kind of serious flaw that keeps women away. I must be in a relationship at all times, that is how things are done, so clearly something is there!
