What is your relationship with this essential part of our Earth dwelling lives?
When I was in my 20's, I wanted to reduce my sleep by 5 minutes a night until I could get by on just one or two hours. Seemed like such a waste of time when I had so many things I'd rather be doing. Of course, I was never successful. Oh, and it turns out that sleep is one of our critical biological needs... who knew?

I think of it this way: a typical person can go longer without food than he or she can without sleep. That ranks sleep up there pretty high... oxygen, water, sleep, ....
I used to drink caffeine and would have to stop by 3pm to be able to get to sleep at night. It sucked taking night classes... I could fall asleep in class easily while drinking a Mt. Dew and then go home and stare at the ceiling wondering why I couldn't sleep.
In my 30's, my life got very hectic with kids and I never seemed to get enough sleep. I need 8 to 9 hours to feel good. More than 9 is too much. I typically get 6.5-7 hours... but 6 hours or fewer... I'm a negative grump. Between working out regularly and also only getting 6.5-7 hours of sleep, it does make it easier for me to fall asleep at night.
When I can't sleep, I like to turn on the TV and watch a boring show... or a movie I've already seen that isn't too action packed. Not that long ago I fell asleep watching Aliens... whoops, bad choice... first the action kept me up a while and second it triggered some nightmares. Those aliens are scary... even 30 years later. Watching a nature TV show where the tiger is stalking the pack of zebras and the narrator drones on and on and the first pack gets away and then it's a lion stalking something else.... that's good falling asleep stuff.
Strangely, so far every night in 2018 I've had a nightmare or stress dream. Don't know what's going on...
It's also helped me develop Ninja skill for steal thing around the house without waking any one up.
What kinds of things to you steal
