It's not that big of a deal. Unless you're an outlier case (a diabetic on certain medications, as an example) it takes at most 10 seconds to rinse it off. Any longer and you've gone from cleaning it to wanking it.

I've always showered every day unless I'm camping, but as a teenager I didn't always wash under the foreskin every day.

For me, I think it's a gesture of respect to be optimally clean when I head out to see someone I don't know so well (especially if sex might be on the table), or in any public kink event context.
