Songs That Make You Cry

This song was playing when I received a call, and I learned that someone I knew drowned. Hard to forget such a thing, especially when you take the lyrics "One Sweet Day" into account.

Someone I know who also recently lost a daughter told me before mother's day this year, "Mija, (which means "my girl") I know you don't pray but I hope it's ok that I pray for you this mother's day." I told her it was, and that I would take a moment to do the same for her. So, on the day, I put this song on and sang along with heavy tears falling from my eyes while I thought of her and the daughter she lost. She knows she'll see her baby girl again, and I'm absolutely fine with that. In fact, I'm happy for her. I don't have the same faith, and I don't believe I'll see my daughter when I die, so in a way in almost envious.. but all in all I'm happy she's able to find some peace after having suffered the worst kind of loss I can imagine or have experienced myself.

I'm sorry you had that horrible experience. Some things never leave us.

This doesn't stop me from listening to this song from time to time. It's still a great song that just has a more personal meaning now.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.
Can't claim to know how it feels to lose a child. However I lost my mother earlier this year, and I'm sure losing your child must be at least as horrible an experience. Hope you also find it becoming easier to deal with your loss as more and more time passes. I tell myself that those who loved us would certainly want us to be able to enjoy life again.

As much as it hurts to lose a parent, trust me: your mother wanted to pass before you. Every parent (unless they're complete sociopaths) wants to die before their child. It's every parent's goal to leave their child behind knowing how loved they always were and will be in the lives we tried to give them.

So, I know you miss your mother and for that I'm sorry. But trust me, *she* would not want it to be the other way around. We all grow up knowing that someday our parents won't be there. It's the way it's supposed to be. That doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like hell when our mothers or fathers do pass, but it's something everyone knows is inevitable.

Losing a child is not inevitable. It's a whole different level of loss. It's just...

Thank you.

It has been a year since my dear wife died, and this song has been a constant companion. I am sure I have posted it somewhere here before but it is always worth listening to again.
