Southern California blackout 2011

That was fun- once I managed to get home and off the freeways and roads. The gay bars were PACKED. I bought beer until my cash ran out, then went home and grilled tons of chicken and veggies with my neighbors and drank more beer. Fun times! VERY awkward walking through a darkened city- and I live in one of the more dense areas of San Diego.

Occasionally, it's nice to lose all the lights n stuff for a while - kinda peaceful and liberating.

Unless you've got loads of expensive stuff in the fridge, that's startin to defrost cos you've got no power, lol.

One of the strangest feelings is being in a big city in complete blackout. We usually have some power after hurricanes, but I've been in complete darkness and silence in the middle of town before, too.

Sounds like you made the best of it!
