STD test before sex ?

It's a noce gesture, but the results are NEVER definitive. test and 3 months later the results are notably accurate. 6 months and nearly correct. 1 year and almost %100 right. But, even with all the modern technology and test, there is none yet that without a doubt state with %100 accuracy.
This is why the FDA will never allow gay men to donate blood. The HIV tests are NOT proof positive or negative.

Do you think it's a must your new partner does a HIV test before you begin to sleep with each other.

I think so. I get tested for everything before a new partner and I expect the same from them. Better safe than sorry. If they care about you enough, getting tested won't bother them.

1youngboy-It's 2009, anyone who has unprotected anal or vaginal sex in this world, especially Anal or Vaginal sex without proof that both partners are HIV-negative is an idiot. A selfish idiot because when you die, you don't die alone, you pull all of your friends and family and loved ones into the almost unwatchable painful, messy drama of your slow death from AIDS. The guys and women who already have HIV and act like it's OK to bareback with other POZ people are insane and have death wishes. Of all the ways to die in America in the first part of the 21st Century-Industrial poisoning, cancer from radiation, nuclear meltdown, drive by death, drug overdose, spousal abuse-HIV/AIDS is the last one I would choose. It's an appalling death. Everybody seems to be forgetting that. It isn't like a Tom Hanks movie-you don't get hugged by Antinio Banderas and gently expire while Joanne Wooodward weeps for you in a corner. It takes forever, and you won't win an oscar for putting yourself through it. Instead you'll turn into a skeleton slowly, achingly, over time, and lose your job, your money, your lovers, your eyesight, your appetite, your bowel control, your memory, your mind. You'll rage and scream, you'll alienate all of your friends and family and ruin their love for you and destroy your regard for yourself. I would rather step on a landmine in Vietnam and die with my body parts hanging in a tree. I can live with a condom.

Hmm...didn't mention smoking, alcohol, or obesity related deaths as "ways to die in America" which surely outnumber HIV.

Yikes! After reading this, 1Youngboy, is your dick limp yet? Nothing like a limp dick to keep you safe. Maybe you should just try abstinence? That's the only sure way to be avoid any risk.

Ok, don't want abstinence? Well, you can go to the clinic together take your tests, remain celibate for about 6 months because that's how long the incubation period is for many STDs/STIs then test again. Then you both can be very sure that you are infection free.

Or you can use a condom and get tested regularly and go about enjoying sex bearing in mind that testing and/or condom use does not gaurantee that you will remain infection/disease free. A friend of mine contacted genital Herpes from her husband performing oral sex on her. They had been married for years and had very few partners before marriage. My sister and her husband both had first-time genital wart outbreaks six months into their relationship. They didn't know which one "gave" it to the other and didn't care since their relationship was strong and they understood the nature of the virus and transmission. Condoms don't go up the entire length of the penis and you can still get HPV (or herpes) even when using a condom. Not a good test out there for warts and unless you are having an outbreak and get PCR performed, not a good one for Herpes either.

Bottom line is that there is no way to have 100% risk-free sex.

Only you can determine how much risk you are willing to take.
