Gannon whatever his name is, closed down his "news site" yesterday and pulled all of his writings. It has come to light that "Talon News", his supposed employer, is funded by the GOP. I am sooooooooo shocked.

It would be hard to believe that the whole thing was not a "set up" so the "proper" questions would be asked. And yes, he also owns web-porn businesses, at least one of which is gay.

This really shouldn't be all that shocking to anyone, since the citizenry of this country doesn't seem to be outraged in the least that the government is paying cold hard tax dollars to columnists and commentators to write positively about pending programs and legislation. A GAO investigation, published in the last few days, referred to this illegal practice as controlled propaganda.

It also appears Rove may have used Gannon/Guckert as a tool with Bob Novak in the "outing" of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

jay... it would appear that the difficulty in obtaining WH press credentials varies proportionally with the spin potential of questions posed to the prez.

I am under the impression that presenting fake identification to a federal employee is illegal. A couple of years ago, the company that I work for had workshops on the post-9-11 world.

The substance was:

Never use false ID to get into a building [like borrow a co-workers badge] because this was a violation of the Patriot Act.

Surely, the White House is a secure area, and surely, our Attorney General would want to prosecute such an offense. [OK, I know prosecution is only for those who don't look or think like Karl Toad.]

Scientists and intelligence agents are also being pressured to change their findings to fit the administration's agenda. Basically right now, we've got someone in who wants to run all the institutions of any sort of information like a think tank, pronouncing their hypothesis as not just theory but fact before they have a chance to test it and coming up with supporting figures afterward.
