I loved that show when I was a kid. But it was one of those programs that I couldn't admit that I liked. (I liked "Little House" and the Carpenters too!) It just wasn't cool to like "The Waltons", but it got high ratings, was on for years, and won lots of awards. They were doing something right, and there were a lot of closet Walton's fans. About 20 years ago Mary Ellen posed nude for Playboy. She looked pretty good but it didn't jump start her career. And there are rumors that Grandma Walton was a lesbian and Grandpa Walton was gay or bi.

This is the first appeareance of Richard Gilliland in his recurring role of Jonesy, Mary Ellen's new boyfriend. Then I found out he was so perfect because the whole series was based on a guy who was writing about his life (a journalist), and his character was John Boy.

David William Harper (born October 4, 1961) played Jim-Bob. Series ended in 1981. 3 TV-movies with The Waltons in 1982 3 others in the 90's.
