elite is a teen telenovela. they're super common in europe. they're just like regular dramas but with teen characters, sorta like pretty little liars. one of the most well known is probably the british show skins. elite falls under the same category. i'm not sure i'd put it in the same category as riverdale because riverdale has delved into the supernatural, and teen telenovelas are usually just regular dramas

First two seasons of Elite were murder mystery themed and I never understand why people keep
Elite is 100% in the same vibe as Gossip Girl, HTGAWM, Riverdale etc. It's definitely not White Lotus.
No sir, no offense but how dare you dragging HTGAWM down to this level. (At least not the first 3 seasons) lol

Early Elite absolutely took some plot structure and other aspects from Gossip Girl. First of all, the class conflict between the poorer students and the ultra-rich, the scheming queen bee; heck, Lu's looks early on were clearly inspired directly by Blair Wardoff's look. Also the constant parties, similar in structure to the "final party" in (nearly) every episode of the original Gossip Girl.

But the season structure is definitely ripped straight off of How to Get Away With Murder: The season starting with something horrible happening, then most of the season telling the lead-up to the horrible thing, with the occasional brief fast-forwards, all inspired by HtGAWM.

I think you have the impression Gossip Girl was unique. It really was just a remake of every other high school cliches. You could say Gossip Girl took plot and aspects from 90210.

Certainly Gossip Girl took elements from shows before it, like every show has. It did take inspiration to a certain degree from the original Beverly Hills, 90210. And it defintely took some inspiration from its immediate predecessor, The O.C., and The O.C. was definitely deeply indebted to Beverly Hills, 90210. All of that is correct. But yeah the relationship between Elite and Gossip Girl is closer then most.

Btw the reboot isn’t really a new show or a separate show from the original one so it can’t really be a knock-off of anything…it’s more like season 7,8 of the og gg with a time jump, it is set in the same world and city, and even featured like 6-7 characters from it, aside from the name drops of the other characters, and a large amount of the group (including the stylists and even gossip girl’s voice) is the same

I see they're still trying it with that throuple storyline.

Not sure how a throuple can function when one part- Aki and Audrey clearly have zero chemistry with each other. Though, I think that's because of the actor that plays Aki just being bad at acting.

Maybe I'm looking to deeply at this but I really do think he (Aki/Evan Mock) tries so hard to maintain the fact he's straight irl that he doesn't allow himself to fully embrace his character.
